  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    The mind of an Atheist

Absolutely. The writer of the OP seems to be nothing more than an argument in search of a subject. And he needs, as you point out, to understand the difference between atheism and anti-theism. One is a rejection of an unsupported claim. The other is a criticism of the structures built around...

Do people have, categorically, the moral right not to be vaccinated?

Yes, because that was the ONLY way of developing immunity in those days and parents wanted their kids to contract many of these diseases earlier, to avoid the serious complications that can occur if contracting them in adulthood. However, kids still had their measles turn into meningitis...

Do people have, categorically, the moral right not to be vaccinated?

Oh good grief! Go back and read the OP. The question was one of MORAL right, not LEGAL right! Of course the Gummint doesn't have the LEGAL right to do things to your body like that. We are talking about your MORAL obligations to your fellow citizens.

Could I say this without offending anyone?

    No, I'm quoting them! Verbatim.

A serious question about the ethics of churches.

You make no sense. And you're boring. Come back when you have something salient.

    The mind of an Atheist

There is as much evidence that God/Allah/all the Hindu gods/Thor/Zeus/Apollo/Isis/Rainbow Serpent provide "benefits" as any fairy or goblin. That is - none.

    The mind of an Atheist

Because humans are unique (as far as we know) in being able to contemplate our mortality. We know we will die. That scares many people. Many of those people will cling to any assurance that death is not final. Bingo. Religions and gods.

Do people have, categorically, the moral right not to be vaccinated?

My sister works in a remote indigenous community in the centre of Australia as a youth worker and counsellor. She has just given birth to her second daughter. TB is still very common in those parts. She had her daughter vaccinated with the BCG vaccine to protect against the disease. Please...

Do people have, categorically, the moral right not to be vaccinated?

And they quote the dangers of thimerosol in those 'cough, splutter'........'studies'. What a shame they fail to mention that thimerosol has been removed from childrens' vaccines!! Keep your tinfoil hat, junk science, conspiracy theorist nonsense to yourself! The rest of us will get on with...

    The mind of an Atheist

Your assurances are worth nothing without evidence. Any time you'd like to present some would be peachy. Babies are born without a knowledge of gods and religions. They are taught these things. There is no evidence they have some innate 'twinkle' of awareness. The obvious support for this is...

Do people have, categorically, the moral right not to be vaccinated?

You're 27. You have no idea what you are talking about. You have never seen someone suffering from the diseases those vaccines protect us from. You've likely never suffered from any of those diseases, because the parents of kids the same age as you protected YOU and their own kids by responsibly...

Do people have, categorically, the moral right not to be vaccinated?

VaxTruth is yet another of the whacko anti-vax groups that have been spawned since the 1998 publication of a story (not a study, but a story) about supposed damage caused to kids by vaccination. The story was a fraud. The doctor responsible for the fraud (Wakefield?) has since been struck...

    The mind of an Atheist

There was no category error. Gods, pixies, unicorns, fairies, etc, all belong to the category of 'things for which no evidence can be demonstrated'!
