  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Hinduism: number of souls

The popular argument of "There are more people alive today than have lived in all of history" is in truth nothing more than a well circulated non-factual *URBAN LEGEND*... http://www.snopes.com/science/stats/dead.htm Claim: The number of people alive today is greater than the number of...

    Bhagavad-Gita

I found it online (it is fully avalible to view and read on a website) while searching online for "Bhagavad Gita in English". It has beautiful illustrations to go along with the story. I've seen the same illustrations elsewhere online that chronicle the events of The Song of God. It also...

    Bhagavad-Gita

I should check out that version you speak of. The one I'm currently using however appears to be very accurate to the original text. It was also translated by a Hindu. "The Bhagavad Gita of Order - The original text as close to the Sanskrit of the Mahabharata; Bhishma-Parva ch.23-40, as...

    Bhagavad-Gita

"The Bhagavad Gita of Order" is my favorite English Translation. "Whenever and wherever it is sure that one weakens in righteousness and a predominance of injustice does manifest, o descendant of Bharata, at that time I do manifest Myself. To liberate the seekers of truth, to take the power...

    Question for Mormons

This is indeed a debate forum, but when it's obvious that the debate will just go back and forth without resolution, I do not wish to continue it further. I seek fruitful debate, not endless debate. I will certainly take the advice of "being careful" though. And God Bless.

    Question for Mormons

Jesus Christ seems to take a more Symbolic Approtch to the Hebrew Scriptures (Temple is Within, Circumcision is Spiritual, Greatest Commandment is Love, Etc), so does Saint Paul. Some Old Laws were canceled out with New Laws "Eye for an Eye" was changed to "Turn the Other Cheek", Etc. Jesus...

    Question for Mormons

*Sigh* Nevermind. It's really pointless to debate this. I do not accept the Old Testament & New Testament as being perfect infallible complete compositions without containing human error or scribal error regardless. I feel the biases and fears of the authors apart from God (as well as...

    Question for Mormons

EchoPneuma: Simply put, I disagree with your interpretation on the matter, and I feel I can back up my side just as easily as you can your own. You are the one calling it a sin, when the Bible says no such thing anywhere. It merely forbade the Israelites from practicing it, and it specifically...

2 Cor. 5: No immortal soul according to Apostle Paul

I personally understand that Nephesh is the Life Breath and Psyche is the Mind/Ego/Emotions and Spirit is the Eternal Portion of ourselves. I was quoting a variety of sources. I guess Psyche gets converted into Rephaim after death and lives on, the Body dies and "sleeps", and the Spirit portion...

    Book of thomas?

I already posted the following information in another Gospel of Thomas thread, and it is just as appropriate here. Probably the best source in understanding the Gospel of Thomas theologically can be found on the following website: http://www.gospelthomas.com/ - Gospel of Thomas...

    Gospel of St. Thomas

"One day the Pharisees asked Jesus, 'When will the Kingdom of God come?'" "Jesus replied, 'The Kingdom of God isn't ushered in with visible signs. You won't be able to say, 'Here it is!' or 'It's over there!' For the Kingdom of God is within you.'" (Luke 17: 20-21) Some translations render it...

    Question for Mormons

Do we still circumcise the flesh? Do we still offer animal blood sacrifices in the Temple for the remission of our sins? Do we still obstain from eating shellfish and the huge list of dietary laws? Do we still adhere to the Old Jewish Law in all of it's over 600 rules and commands, which...

Mormon Recruiting in an Evangelical Church

They got it in one case from hearing Jesus Christ speak with them and opening the Scriptures to them, and in another case from hearing about Jesus Christ and His Salvific Role. It thus applies to Spiritual Recognization and Spiritual Realization of Spiritual Truth via the Holy Spirit. It can...

Mormon Recruiting in an Evangelical Church

As for the topic at hand, I feel that what the Mormon in question did was wrong in how and where he was proselytizing and the deceptive measures he used in doing it. Yet, I have also heard first hand accounts of Evangelicals persuading young Mormons into their Church under deceptive pretenses to...
