  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    *Moved from Women's Discusssion* Suicide/Heaven

It also says in the bible that the only unforgivable sin is blaspheming the holy spirit. While what exactly that means is debated, you would think that if it was suicide, it would be stated blatantly. This leads me to believe that suicide is not necessarily unforgivable and instantly condemning.

    *Moved from Women's Discusssion* Suicide/Heaven

He stressed the need for repentance, but does that mean that if you tell a lie and then haven't repented yet and you die, you go to hell for that one sin even though you are living in Christ Jesus and just made a human mistake? I don't believe so. I believe that if you are a Christian and you...

    Christmas Trees Good Or Bad?

That sounds like a case of legalism to me. You definitely need to sit down and have a conversation with him about it. In my experience, placing restrictions like that do a family more harm than good.

    Overwhelmed...

CrazyPerson, you're not alone. The weird economy is making it difficult for everyone who is unemployed to find work. I am a second year university student, and I have been searching for a job for two months. I have turned in over thirty applications and resumes, and have asked myself the same...

How d'you cope with being unmarried and sexually aroused?

It occurred to me the second I came back to this thread that my choice of words was poor, and was very likely going to be picked apart by the time I came back. If I could have worded myself better I would have. Basically what I meant was that sex outside of a committed relationship (not that I...

How d'you cope with being unmarried and sexually aroused?

Well, I suppose that if nothing else, their argument for purity emphasizes the difference between sexual relationships outside of and within marriage. One is superficial and impatient, and the other is not. Anyway, to each their own. I got a lot of out of the book, but others might not, it's...

How d'you cope with being unmarried and sexually aroused?

It's almost amusing just how worked up people have the tendency to get.... I just wanted to pop in and recommend a book to the OP, if he's still lurking around. It's called Every Young Man's Battle by Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker, and it goes into detail about sexual urges, why we feel...

    Dating

I don't think that it is a sin to date a non-believer. I think that it's a very very bad idea, though. I think that the part in the bible that talks about not being unequally yoked is one of those areas that is giving sound advice for a really good reason. However, I personally don't believe...

    Supper for 4

    1. My mom's dad. He died when she was 15. I miss him even though I never met him, because the way she talks about him makes him sound like a really amazing man. 2. C.S. Lewis. This man was an absolute genius in my opinion, and I would love to have a (long) conversation with him. 3. Michael...

How do you balance evolution and creation?

I think that among Christians, evolution gets a really bad rap. Our first tendency is often to equate the word with some evil and entirely non-Christian belief. I agree with those who believe that animals have adapted and evolved, under the control of the Creator. Honestly though, I find the...

    Fall 2008 classes

Not Latin specifically, but I have to take two years of a foreign language, and Latin counts. I can't tell you how many people called me a [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] when they found out that I was voluntarily taking Latin. I think it's fascinating and a lot of fun....just ridiculously hard.

    Fall 2008 classes

I'm taking English 220-Intro to the English Major, English 246- Global Fiction, Latin 301-Caesar (Lord help me) Astronomy 122- The Birth and Death of Stars. It seems pretty easy compared to what some of you are taking (except Latin, which makes me want to bang my head into a wall...

    Marriage directly after college?

Hey, I'm right there with you K9. There's a good chance that I'll be nineteen as well when I tie the knot with my beau. I understand not wanting to sound naive about divorce, but it is what it is. There's a fifty percent chance- either you will, or you won't. There are a million factors that...

    Marriage directly after college?

Okay, I understand what you mean. So what we need is an experience-o-meter. It takes your blood pressure and within five minutes you have a detailed printout revealing whether or not you're mature enough to get married. :D I'll get right on inventing that...
