  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are some people destined for hell??

enegue: The new heart and the old heart are actually one and the same. The old heart was just blind, and deaf, and dumb, and lame, and sick, and in desperate need of the healing and nurture of the Spirit of God Reformationist: So....your contention is that these two hearts are "one and the...

Are some people destined for hell??

Well, I could also ask you to think for a minute. Are you saying that scripture is mistaken? What about Abel, wasn't he a righteous man? And Seth, too. And Noah, and Enoch, and Abraham, and Lot, and Ruth. Ruth wasn't even a Hebrew! And what about these: For when the Gentiles, which have not the...

Are some people destined for hell??

Well, BBAS 64. I guess you've just underlined the wrong bit. Try it this way: And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh: That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine...

Are some people destined for hell??

The new heart and the old heart are actually one and the same. The old heart was just blind, and deaf, and dumb, and lame, and sick, and in desperate need of the healing and nurture of the Spirit of God. The healing occurred for me at the instant I responded to the Gospel message, when the...

Are some people destined for hell??

Thanks again, Reformationist. But it's not as if the old heart (nature) was cut out and disposed of, and a new one put in its place, is it? It's more like the old one is still there, but something has been added that gives the believer a new perspective, and new motivation, and hence greater...

Hi, Reformationist. Thanks. Another question. Can you describe how your new nature operates? Cheers, enegue

Are some people destined for hell??

Hi, Reformationist. You say, "Those to whom God gives a new heart DO believe unto salvation.", but I would ask, "Why then, do they need a new heart?" Cheers, enegue

    Predestination

Hi guys, At the end of the movie, "The Good Son", the mother is struggling with her son on a cliff top. Her son's friend appears and the continued struggle results in both boys slipping off the edge with the mother reaching out and grasping one boy's arm in her left hand, and the other boy's...

    Predestination

Hi Oworm, Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the...

    Predestination

Hi Oworm, enegue: The analogy works perfectly for me. And yes, I believe ALL men are God's children. oworm: So you are a universalist then? You believe all people will go to heaven? Isn't perception an amazing thing? You see what you want to see, I guess. I wrote in a previous post about the...

    Predestination

Hey, Oworm. I'm not a Calvinist. The analogy works perfectly for me. And yes, I believe ALL men are God's children. Prove to me from scripture that they are not. My proof: they are offspring of his offspring, and he knows the names and deeds of them all: And I saw a great white throne, and him...

    Predestination

Howdy, Previous posts: First defect in Calvinist's understanding of the Sovereignty of God Fundamental Categories of menThe second defect in a Calvinist's understanding of the Sovereignty of God relates to their misunderstanding of his law. I will try to illustrate: My son drops an...

    Predestination

Hi guys, There are three fundamental categories of men: 1. The naturally righteous 2. The naturally wicked 3. The rest of humanity (perhaps, the naturally wickeous :)) The naturally righteous: men who by nature know God, and walk with him, and do what is right in his sight. God didn't...

    Predestination

There is another possibility that you clearly haven't considered - you don't fully comprehend the implications of what you believe. Your understanding of the Sovereignty of God is defective in two major ways, which I will try to illustrate: When my children were young, one of my responsiblities...

    Predestination

Hi Erinwilcox, It matters little whose version of history you read, but Calvin's rule in Geneva was based on Lordship and authority and imposition. Jesus says, "But so shall it not be among you." Calvinistic Sovereignty is based on the condition that God is irresistable. In other words, God...
