I wonder if this included all the displaced Jews that had to leave Gaza

Well, we discovered ethnic cleansing from the Iranians and the Egyptians and the Syrians and the Iraqis and the Algerians and the Lybians and the Yemenites and the rest of the Arab and Farsi world as they drove out the Jews who had lived there since before there was an 'Islam'. Of course, we...

    I need a good book.

Two excellent books about Orthodox Judaism written by Orthodox Rabbis: To Be A Jew by R' Hyim Donin and Jewish Literacy by R' Joseph Telushkin.

I wonder if this included all the displaced Jews that had to leave Gaza

I am just saying that the population exchanged, 'Jew for Arab', that started in 1947 hasn't quite finished. The final stage will be the expulsion of the Arabs from major sections of the West Bank. Then there will be a fair and equatable 'Jew for Arab' exchange throughout the Mid East. Then Gaza...

Doesn't even come close to the 2 million Jews and their later descendents, who were driven without compensation for any of their land or wealth from the Arab lands after the War for Independence.

    Would you prefer we leave?

I have long experience with CHABAD, including teaching at a CHABAD Yeshiva in the HS section for about 20 years. I live in a very rural area and have to travel 60 miles to the nearest schul which is CHABAD and whose Rabbi was a student of mine back in the 70's. I also remain in close contact...

    Would you prefer we leave?

Brilliantly said. But at some time you have to define what a Jew is and what Judaism is. And then live with the consequences [boundaries] these defintions create, both the pleasant and unpleasant. For an Orthodox Jew, whether CHABAD or mishnagdim [which I am], a Jew is a person who was born of a...

Israel should always defend her Borders

I don't know about the Christian aspect of Josephus' post, but the need for Israel to protect the borders of the land that G-d gave us is, without a doubt, absolutely true. Now, some of you may think that it is a 2nd rate theology, but that 2nd rate theology has kept us united and protected...

Since the Tanach is part of Torah, you'll have to give your sources to back up your claim. In effect, the Tanach ends with the Jews returning to Eretz Israel after the Babylonian Captivity under the leadership of the Prophets. Seems like that confirms our right of pocession.

Passover '09 memories .....[videos and pics]

We had a Community Seder at my house the 1st night, 19 guests + my family>> I kidded with my wife that was probably every Jew within a 50 miles radius at the only kosher kitchen in the whole area. Sorry, no pics or videos, not allowed to operate them on Yom Tov and I don't have the skills to...

    Just wanteds to say...

So why would you leave it in someone else's hands by going to a resturant over Passover especially if they have no obligation/contract with you to fill your need to not eat chometz. You know what showed up at the lunch table at work today? A huge box of donuts. It' just wasn't fair^_^:P:D!!

What was your family, historically? That is what minhag ['tradition' with a small 't'] that you should follow. Definitely, one does not go 'shopping Rabbis', picking some minhag customs from one and some minhag customs from another to suite the individual's taste. It is never a matter of...

    Just wanteds to say...

Please, I am not trying to 'shake a finger' at anyone. But I am tryin to figure out the rational of doing one thing at home and another in public. In fact, of being 'stricture' at home than in public. See, if it were me, I would be stricture in public>>>it 'looks' better and I am a sucker for...

I didn't know that 'convenience' was the criteria for discipline. So, you do one thing in private and another in public. I just don't get it. Why not do it all of the time during Pesach, even if it inconvenient?
