  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    ‘Non-Liturgical’ Blessings Do Not Exist

I'm going by what FS itself explains i.e. a mercy God gives us without pre conditions. 27. In the catechesis cited at the beginning of this Declaration, Pope Francis proposed a description of this kind of blessing that is offered to all without requiring anything. It is worth reading these...

    ‘Non-Liturgical’ Blessings Do Not Exist

My inclination is that FS is a powerful reinforcement of the magnitude of Gods blessings. Especially in the light of St Faustina's dictations from Jesus about His Divine Mercy.

    Lotus Flower

There's no problem with using the Lotus flower for it's asthetic appeal to you. In fact the Catholic Syro-Malabar Church in India uses it in one of their popular traditional crosses. The Cross stands in a stylised version of the Lotus.

Attack on the Pope by Fr Altman

St Catherine of Sienna who's life is often cherry picked as an example, also stressed the necessity of obedience. "Obedience is the key with which Heaven is opened. Christ sweet Jesus left you this sweet key of obedience; for, as you know, He left His Vicar, Christ-on-earth, whom you are all...

Attack on the Pope by Fr Altman

Warrior Angel, take heart. I started participating in online Catholic forums 22 years ago and back then Pope John Paul II was on the nose of the particular conservative set, despite what they claim today. It distressed me back then as well. But fast forward 20 years and that dear Pope is...

A good treatise on taking scandal Fr Faber

To give scandal is a great fault, but to take scandal is a greater fault. It implies a greater amount of wrongness in ourselves, and it does a greater amount of mischief to others. Nothing gives scandal sooner than a quickness to take scandal. This is worth our consideration. For I find great...
