  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    My story

I've looked over the rules and it looks like I can share here. If not, please remove this post. Anyway, some of you may remember me. I was a regular on these boards a couple of years ago and enjoyed discussions with many Adventists. I have recently written about my spiritual journey here...

    Date for Noah's flood

I recently received some kid's educational materials in the mail and it had Noah's flood dated at 3500 BC. Most sources I have seen date it much later. Does anyone know the rationale for the 3500 BC date?

Why is the SDA so deceptive?

As I mentioned previously Evangelists like Billy Graham aren't promoting their distinct beliefs, but the Gospel. I know many different churches work together for the sake of the Gospel and various churches do follow-up. Also, many evangelists that don't fill stadiums typically have their...

Why is the SDA so deceptive?

We must have attended different seminars then. In the last seminar I attended the John 3:16 message was covered in about 10-15 minutes toward the beginning of the meetings. Granted, they had cards they passed out where a person could check off that they accepted Jesus and that happened on more...

Why is the SDA so deceptive?

I think many evangelists don't promote their own set of beliefs, but focus on sharing the Gospel. Different churches work together all the time for one event that focuses on sharing the Gospel. Does Billy Graham preach in his crusades about specific doctrinal issues that would make someone...

Why is the SDA so deceptive?

It is more important to understand that he is already defeated and doomed. Does Adventism have the devil's tactics as part of their belief statement?

Why is the SDA so deceptive?

I don't think you will find all those things in most belief statements. Non-denominational churches are in general inclusive rather than exclusive and allow for liberty regarding some issues. Churches I typically attend would hold to 1 and 6 as normal beliefs among attendees. I haven't...

    Questions for the Formers

The covenant between God the Father and God the Son to ensure salvation for all mankind. We enter it by faith in what Christ did for us. To agape and to believe on Jesus. We are to be led by the Holy Spirit who works in us and through us to transform us and those around us. Inaugurated at...

    Hermeneutics Quiz

I would hardly qualify that survey as statistical based due to the extremely small sample size that was developed among his friends, associates, and students only. Based on my training in statistics this survey would fall flat. Anyone is free to make up their own quiz and assign values to it...

    Hermeneutics Quiz

I did come out in the category I would place myself in, but that doesn't change the flawed nature of the quiz.

    Hermeneutics Quiz

From going over the survey and the article by the guy who made up the survey it doesn't appear that he understands the difference between the old and new covenant. For instance, the last question about the Sabbath had no answer that I could agree with because it was either Saturday is the...

    Is Dancing OK in church?

If you are focusing on other people and what they are doing then you are right - that is not worship. You can do that whether a service is "lively" or "solemn" though. Because some may focus on others during a lively service or during a solemn service doesn't make one way more right than...

    The Waldensens and the Sabbath

Do you have a link to the "not a few indeed celebrate the sabbath with the Jews" quote in the context of the paragraph or page it was written? I have been looking online and can only find the quote you gave and nothing of the context.

    Is Dancing OK in church?

Context? The bringing of the ark of the covenant to the city of David. Church? No he was not in church. They had no church or temple. Is that the issue you have with it? Dancing is fine outside the church building? David was bringing the most sacred item in the temple to the city of David...

Are 'formers' or 'free thinkers' mistreated?

You found a denomination. When you go to a non-denominational church (wof or not) that one in your town may be a great fit, but if you move across the country the non-denominational church in your town may not be a good fit. Denominations have belief statements that apply to churches in their...
