  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

United Methodist Church expected to disunite over gay marriage

According to statistics (about 20 years old) a homosexual can expect to live circa 30 years less than a married man (excluding AIDS related causes of death). This will certainly include mental factors. So whilst what you say may be technically true, it isn't born out in statistics. Obviously...

United Methodist Church expected to disunite over gay marriage

I guess glutony can be repented of, without major biological or spiritual ramifications, where there is a will, and it is indeed often repented of. My wife just lost 3 stone in weight over a few months, as she was overweight. But as to the other sin, it's rather more difficult to repent of, as...

Aviation experts say missile or 'bomb on board' may have downed Ukrainian plane in Iran

They were Iranians who had emigrated to Canada, and it is not likely that Russia had anything to do with it.

Do religious discussions here make you want to be Christian?

Put simply atheists have no scientific theory that replaces God, and nothing can disguise it. There is no basis to the criminal justice system apart from God and morality. Again atheists overlook it. Your agenda is seeking out truth? I suggest you're not pursuing it efficiently, as you're not...

Do religious discussions here make you want to be Christian?

No one to my knowledge has found a way for order to arise out of chaos. The chances of life arising by accident are so infinitesimally small that the onus is rather on you to say how life arose without God. God is demonstrable just by reference to notions of good and evil. If God did not exist...

Do religious discussions here make you want to be Christian?

Indeed, but why create the myth given that the apostles did not financially benefit? I don't think the gospels can be construed as "ravings." They betray an astonishing degree of intelligence, in fact far higher than the average non-believer possesses in this day and age. 2 Peter 1:16, "For we...

Do religious discussions here make you want to be Christian?

Much of the bible has been proven from archeology. All the cities of the Old Testament actually exist in the land of Israel. If you go there you'll find evidence of human habitation going back thousands of years. If you want to bury your head in the sand and pretend it's all a myth, you can't...

United Methodist Church expected to disunite over gay marriage

When considering what the bible categorizes as sin, it always pays to take into account God's point of view, as he is the one who defines "sin," not that I have any intention of doing so here, as you can read it for yourself, if you so desire. An atheist discussing sin without reference to the...

Do religious discussions here make you want to be Christian?

Given that by AD 70 the gospel had spread over the entire Roman Empire, your obsession with his fictionality is a reflection of a disposition to wish that he was fictional, not that there is evidence of it. It is very unlikely that faith in an entirely fictional character would spread. If you...

Do religious discussions here make you want to be Christian?

I disagree. There is no burden of proof on Christians for this is not a court of law, but of faith. No-one has imposed such a burden on them, and certainly not God. For this simple reason: nothing will ever convince someone determined never to believe, as the gospels clearly tell us. Not even...

Do religious discussions here make you want to be Christian?

I'm saying that denying or ignoring Christ will be accounted as equivalent to lying about Christ on the day of judgement, because it is implicitly deeming him to be a liar. Yes I agree that I am referring to his words for that premise, but I am also referring objectively to the authoritative...

Do religious discussions here make you want to be Christian?

I'm not trying to convince you to believe in anything. I'm simply objecting to the fallacy that was expressed that atheists have enough evidence to state with verity that Jesus was a fictional character. You will only believe at such time as God chooses, which may be never.

Do religious discussions here make you want to be Christian?

You are asserting Jesus as fiction. Someone cannot be classified as fictional just because of a lack of "reliable contemporary sources." The logic is false. I have already pointed out that the Jews did not deny Jesus' existence, when it was in their interest to do so. There are many references...

Do religious discussions here make you want to be Christian?

I wasn't directing my words at you specifically but at your brand of atheism. As I said, anyone in this day who asserts that Jesus Christ is fictional with not an iota of evidence to back it up has a credibility problem. Any mature Christian will tell you the supposition that Jesus is fictional...

    Abortion

The taking away of a life is always an evil act. The issue is whether it can be justifiable? Judicial reasons alone seem permissible, including medical. The foetus may be seriously impaired, or the product of rape, adultery or prostitution prior to an arranged marriage, where the Levitical law...
