  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Teilhard de Chardin’s Ideas Find Resonance Inside the Vatican 70 Years After His Death

The article that I posted also explains that the 1962 condemnation of the philosophical and theological writings of Teilhard de Chardin was implicitly reiterated in 1981 by the Roman Catholic Church. That condemnation remains the official position of the Roman Catholic Church today despite the...

Teilhard de Chardin’s Ideas Find Resonance Inside the Vatican 70 Years After His Death

The article I posted includes a further implicit reiteration in 1981 of the 1962 condemnation. His works concerning philosophy and theology remain officially condemned by the Roman Catholic Church, said condemnation consequently serving as a spiritual warning to any Catholics flirting with...

Catholicism: Is Geocentrism 'de fide' (an Obligatory Article of Faith)? Yes and No.

Thanks for the above links. They are excellent resources. About a year ago, I posted links to online facsimiles of the 1598 Vulgate (HathiTrust) and the 1582/1609/1610 and 1635 Douay-Rheims (Internet Archive) with a publication appeal to my readership. Here is the link to that Blog A post on...

Catholicism: Is Geocentrism 'de fide' (an Obligatory Article of Faith)? Yes and No.

Appreciate your comments. Feel free to quote from my website as you require. As you know, the original Douay-Rheims (with its copious notes, annotations and references) was never reprinted or republished after about the mid-1600's because of the penal laws. It's time for Catholics to have the...

Catholicism: Is Geocentrism 'de fide' (an Obligatory Article of Faith)? Yes and No.

The ORIGINAL (1582/1609/1610) Douay-Rheims Holy Bible is as you say, “a faithful and exact translation of St. Jerome’s Vulgate.” The Challoner revision (1749–52), however, is a corruption of that translation, a glaring example of which is Isaiah 40:22. St. Jerome’s Vulgate uses the expression...

A persistent error soon becomes a serious heresy.

On the contrary, the (original) Douay-Rheims Holy Bible did not change anything but simply translated into Early Modern English, the Latin Vulgate that had been unchanged since it was translated by Saint Jerome circa 385 A.D. The operative phrase from the earliest complete Vulgate (Codex...

Round 3D Earth - flat Maps - sphere

You're confused. I entered this discussion at post #29 in response to @BobRyan quoting Isaiah 40:22 from the corrupted Challoner version of the Douay-Rheims Holy Bible. My response addressed that specific issue, the issue being Challoner's mistranslation of gyrum terrae. Neither you nor...

Here we go again, and so I'll say it again: You are not equipped to address the issue with the Challoner revision error or you would have addressed it by now. If you are not able to speak to the matter, fine, just exit the thread.

Again, you have not addressed the issue at hand.
