  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Great Job

It's suprising to see just how few Anglican societies there are at Universities, besides the rather evangelical Christian Unions.

St. Lawrence Lounge (Vocations, lay-ministries, and discernment)

I've been wondering... how do you distinguish between a call to serve, and a call to ministry? I feel like... well, my life should be lead for God, rather than for me. I'll pray for guidance, and wait :) What did they look for in you when you applied?

    A General Thanksgiving...

As opposed to prayers for the Queen, etc :) excellent! Something new every day!

Should Intelligent Design be Taught in Public Schools?

Intelligent design is a religious idea, rather than a scientific principle, because it is unfalsifiable. Teach it by all means, but keep it to philosophy or religious education classes...

Should Intelligent Design be Taught in Public Schools?

I.D should not replace evolution, but should be mentioned briefly alongside evolution. Evolution is the best theory governing how living things develop over time... however, it doesn't deal with how it all started in the first place.

QUESTION: Should Christians take a more AGRESSIVE or PASSIVE approach?

I think that each denomination should really be responsible for their own missionary work, but always in a spirit of co-operation with other denominations - both the Anglican and Catholic communities on campus do all their charity work together :)

I could use a little advice

Enjoy the literary devices and the plot - don't relish in the distasteful, and you'll be fine :)

I could use a little advice

I don't think you are doing anything wrong by reading these books. They are works of fiction! If you can read it without feeling tempted or thinking about committing the sinful acts described in these books, enjoy them :D That said, Bible reading and prayer are always things to do more often...

I could use a little help...

...in making sense of what is going through my mind at the minute! My conversion process started about a year ago - it was a time of reflection, which gradually led me onto the path of Christianity, leading to my Baptism and Confirmation late last year. I have committed many, many sins over...

    Call to Ministry

How did you know? What did it feel like? When did you find out God was calling you to minister to his flock? I'm curious :D

QUESTION: Should Christians take a more AGRESSIVE or PASSIVE approach?

Mmm, does seem like Christianity in general is in a bit of a slump. The Church as a whole seems to be taking a stand in the UK against the Government's attempts to force Catholic adoption agencies to offer places among same-sex couples - slightly off-topic, but perhaps taking an active approach...

QUESTION: Should Christians take a more AGRESSIVE or PASSIVE approach?

I think that there is plenty of room for both; living examples of his teachings, and people to actively spread the word, so to speak. Evangelism and beatitude, we need it all :)

    Looking for Christianity advice

Regardless of the actual dates, our feast days are when we celebrate these events; as with most things, it is the spirit of the occasion that is more important than the details.
