  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Fr. Josiah On Pornography, and Nick Fuentes

Wow, how much TAW has changed since 2007. I can not remember a single time when a thread within TAW has been as politically charged as this. Nor can I remember a time when such a political priest, who has clearly made the culture war and politics his idols, would have been posted in this...

Thoughts on Mari Emanuel and Ancient Church of East

Well, if he ever decided to be canonical EO he'd fit right in with ROCOR! ^_^

Must a proper EO consider OOs to be heterodox?

That said, while their theology may be heretical, we must still treat them with the same love and respect as we would our own (not saying that you wouldn't, Fr, but it needs to be said for the other lurkers out there).

Thoughts on Mari Emanuel and Ancient Church of East

He's a schismatic of schismatic schismatics. The Assyrian Church of the East, from my understanding, is the continuation of that same Local Church which schismed away following the Council of Ephesus which rebuked Nestorianism. The then-Church of the East I believe was based in modern day Iraq...

Baseless grounds? Really? -St Herman's in Platina: Gleb Podmoshansky molests people and goes into schism. ROCOR does not inform the authorities. -Holy Transfiguration in Brookline: Panteleimon molests people and goes into schism. ROCOR does not inform the authorities. -Christ of the Hills in...

Thankfully, not all jurisdictions ignore these problems like ROCOR. Nor was this the only monastery where ROCOR failed to notify the authorities and failed to protect additional victims. The OCA, for example, actually defrocked the former Archbishop Seraphim of Canada when it was found that he...

OCA and Macedonian Primates Concelebrate Divine Liturgy in Washington DC

Agreed on Archbishop Jovan, however, that depends on how he lives the rest of his earthly life.

OCA and Macedonian Primates Concelebrate Divine Liturgy in Washington DC

Correct, the country is the Republic of North Macedonia. However, the name of the Local Church there is Macedonian Orthodox Church - Archdiocese of Ohrid, MOC-OA. And since that the the name that the OCA has decided to use, that is what I'm using in this thread - especially since the article...

OCA and Macedonian Primates Concelebrate Divine Liturgy in Washington DC

https://www.oca.org/news/headline-news/his-beatitude-metropolitan-tikhon-concelebrates-with-his-beatitude-archbishop-stefan-of-macedonian-orthodox-church The OCA and Macedonian Orthodox Church recognize each other's autocephaly! So yesterday, Metropolitan Tikhon and Archbishop Stefan...

A Though on St Olga of Kwethluk

Correct, they were part of the Campus Crusade/Evangelical Orthodox crowd that converted en masse in the late 1980s. My stepmom was part of that mass conversion. I think she said that the parish bought the property from a group of Catholic nuns that were dying out.

Prophecy of a Greek Orthodox Monk. Apocalypse, The Seal of the Antichrist, 666, Documents, сhips and barcode

It has also since come out by people who actually knew St Paisios personally that these so-called "prophecies" of his are either 1) largely made up and completely fabricated or 2) taken completely out of context and twisted

    The Orthodox stayed true

So in a display of typical ethnic chauvinism and a selective view of history; you have dismissed all the Orthodox who were under the Patriarchate of Rome to include the Irish, the Goths, the Franks, and, the Anglo-Saxons. You have also ignored the Georgians and Armenians who were both Christian...

A Though on St Olga of Kwethluk

St Olga of Kwethluk was just glorified the other day and I had some thoughts on how timely it is. Initially I was posting this as part of a reply in the Orthobro thread, but felt it best here. We are living in some odd times. No, not in the "end of ze world" sense of it; we've been living in...
