  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Eternal justification

All true, granted, but let's keep our Systematic categories biblical rather than philosophical. I love philosophy, but too much of it has crept into our Reformed Systematics. Justification is at the heart of the Evangelical Faith (evangelical as defined by the Reformation and not Dallas or...

    Music, Worship and Salvation

Reggie M. Kidd, professor of New Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary - Orlando, on the issue of 'Music and Mission' writes: 'How this all works is beyond me. It's enough, I think, to experience rather than to understand that Jesus is the "fifth voice" among us, and that He uses our...

    Eternal justification

When will we who are of the Reformed persuasion move away from the scholastic Protestant categories and philosophies, and into true Biblical and Systematic Theology? This debate on 'eternal justification' smacks of supra biblical, and scholastic overtones. Regards, DrWarfield

    Question: Mega-church

CCWoody wrote: 'I don't believe that the mega-church is a fad. I believe that pastors have figured out that you get more money with cotton candy than you do preaching the meat of the Word.' Brother, I in no way wish to be seen as a defender or proponent of the mega-Church. In fact I am the...

    The regulative Principle of Worship

I am of the firm opinion that every single one of us has a regulative principle of worship. Some are aware of what there regulating principle is, others are not consciously aware of, but nevertheless hold to one, and then there are others who simply don't want to think in such terms. The...

Brother, the comment is not ignorant, it may come out of frustration , but it is certainly not ignorant! Regards, DrWarfield

    Creation and the Church

Dear Brethren, Now that I have had a little bit of fun with my last post and proven to everybody how obnoxious I can come across, I would like to make a more serious comment. I am not the biggest fan of Creation Science, or whatever their new name is, even though they were a chief instrument...

    Creation and the Church

Brother, Chromosone 2??? That is like saying that the meaning of life is 42! Chromosone 2, give me a break! If evolution is fact, rather than a mere unproven religious presupposition, then there must be a "missing link" somewhere. Evolutionists have now had around 200 years, since the...

    Creation and the Church

I thought that I made it quite plain that I understand that Warfield, and for that matter Machen, held to theistic evolution. Be that as it may I am not compelled to have to agree with these two giants of the faith on every point. As for them being ordained in the PCA (USA), Mmmm well, all I...

    Creation and the Church

Come on! Surely you would have to agree, as a child of the Reformation, that if God said it then it settles it whatever I may think. As for contextualisation and exegesis, discussion and all the rest, we all believe in those endeavours (that is if we are Reformed). However, contextualisation...

    Creation and the Church

Give me a break!!! Brother, for a start, please don't confuse your genres. If God meant "millions and millions, even bazillions of years" in Genesis 1 He would have said it. But instead he used the word "day". As a minister in the PCA (Australia) I am astounded at how many refuse to believe...

How Do You Discern God's Will?

Masterful? I will leave that for your own discernment. If you are going to read Friesen at least also read Ferguson. "It is better to have read and not thought much of it, than never to have read at all". So in short read everything you can on the subject. But if you only want one book...

How Do You Discern God's Will?

I have read Friesen's book and the fact that Friesen is not reformed nor does he come with Reformed presuppostions affects the whole book. A better book, in my humble opinion, is Sinclair Fergusons book, Discovering God's Will. It is shorter for a start, it is clearly Reformed and finally...

How Do You Discern God's Will?

Booming voice from heaven. Yes, the Lord does thunder his voice from the heavens. What I was refering to was an "audible voice" from heaven. Regards, DrWarfield
