  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    The Pope

I guess you could change your name to "Worthless, forged, and thoroughly debunked prophecies of St. Malachy Guy" but it doesn't have as nice a ring to it.

Honest Question for All "Liberal" Christians

Just wanted to peek in quickly and give jinc props. We see all sorts of attitudes from those who don't self-identify as liberal Christians. Thank you for asking questions because you honestly want to hear our answers, and for stating your stances sincerely and respectfully. In a world where...

The Symbolism of Freemasonry [MOVED FROM UNORTHODOX THEOLOGY]

While I haven't read any official government description of the Great Seal that uses the term "capstone" (I have not researched this thoroughly), a Google search of "great seal capstone" shows that many people are using that term when discussing the Seal.

The Symbolism of Freemasonry [MOVED FROM UNORTHODOX THEOLOGY]

The evidence strongly suggests that there is no connection between the Great Seal and Freemasonry. A Masonic source: Eye in the Pyramid From a neutral website: Is the Pyramid & Eye a Masonic Symbol on the Great Seal and Dollar Bill? This is one of those myths that just feels right to...

    Freemasonry. Separating myth from fiction.

One of the things I love about being in the philosophy section is that much of the readership here are well aware of rhetorical devices and logical fallacies. To my non-masonic friends, have you noticed the anti-masons in this thread insulting masons and then playing the martyr/persecution card...

    Freemasonry. Separating myth from fiction.

Duane, I don't understand the anger at my posting of the SBC link. I thought fighting supposed heresy was your thing? Maybe there is something infuriating about accusing good men of evil based on an interpretation of scripture that is not universal. All I can say is welcome to our world .

    Freemasonry. Separating myth from fiction.

Skip, as you know, thorough explanations of the mistakes of anti-masons can be found all over the internet. I have no desire to endlessly rehash arguments with you. I know you'll count this as scoring points in the ridiculous game you're playing. You have my blessing! So since you're going to...

    Freemasonry. Separating myth from fiction.

Search long enough on the internet, and you'll find screeds against just about anything. Well written as to grammar and syntax though they may be, they are riddled with misconceptions. Here's one I found after a very quick search: Why I Left the Southern Baptist Convention To use Skip's...

    Freemasonry. Separating myth from fiction.

The biggest error being committed among anti-Masons in discussions like this is an error common to ChristianForums in general. Nearly everyone here who posts as a Christian believes that they are in the correct denomination or sect and that those who disagree with them are wrong. They cannot...

    Questions and Answers about Masonry

CabVet, there are flavors of Masonry that do not have a belief requirement to join. The Grand Orient of France, the largest Masonic body in that country, has no religious requirement. While Grand Lodges in the US don't recognize those orders, they do exist. Some of the best men I've ever had...

    Masons

I know this was intended as an insult, but it may be quite possibly your best contribution to this thread. Freemasonry is not Christianity, nor did it ever claim to be. Likewise, Coca-Cola, Corvettes, a hug from a friend, and an evening with family are not Christianity. They are all things a...
