  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"We Choose the Nominee, Not the Voters" -Party Official

No idea, nor do I know if there are really all that many people eligible to vote that don't have an ID.

"We Choose the Nominee, Not the Voters" -Party Official

State ID card costs $8 in my state. I would agree they should be free just for this purpose. I don't agree that every convicted felon, illegal alien (or anyone else for that matter), should be able to show up and vote three times without an ID if they feel so inclined.

"We Choose the Nominee, Not the Voters" -Party Official

It was just that, a prediction, but an accurate one IMO. Arguable whether it is prudent or presidential to make such a prediction, but he didn't call for riots. He should leave these predictions to others to take care of on his behalf IMO. They will come. It's only March and there was no...

"We Choose the Nominee, Not the Voters" -Party Official

Based on typical margins of victory, most election shenanigans are probably a wash even within the individual states. That's not relevant to the larger issue. The government does need to get very serious about eliminating voter fraud IMO. Instead it appears they just try to cheat better than...

"We Choose the Nominee, Not the Voters" -Party Official

I am among the vast majority who thought the primaries were actually intended to be a democratic voting process. If that is not actually the case, in the future they should present us with the short list of acceptable potential nominees. and then we will select one, or choose another party if...

So will the spectre of violence hanging over the Trump campaign cost him on Tuesday?

Agree. Cruz would welcome him for his similar political views but there is the not so small issue that he is also Hispanic and lost his home state badly. Marco adds zero states to that ticket.

Donald Trump wavers on paying legal fees for violent supporters

It is remarkable. We destroyed Kerry for a few flip-flops and it stuck. Trump flips on a statement on a weekly basis. "Weekly" is being very generous lately. It is impossible to beat him in the primaries because he can indeed say whatever he pleases and it won't cost him much more than a few...

So will the spectre of violence hanging over the Trump campaign cost him on Tuesday?

I was thinking this way until the "yo mama" jokes started flying a few weeks ago. I realize political wounds heal quick but I am not so sure Rubio is quite done ticking Trump off. Perhaps if it looks like a ticket that could actually win when the time comes? Sounds like a risky bet for a...

Is it time the Republicans removed Trump from consideration?

A crust? You obviously don't have even wild idea of his foundation. We are done here. Good day to you.

They can leave right after they eat but most choose to stay. Most are just there for a good meal but a few now regularly attend our church, and quite a few of the children now show up for various youth programs. Average age of my small church was getting very old so it was a blessing to see...

Is it time the Republicans removed Trump from consideration?

. Agreed. I will try to find out if it is a local problem. Very proud of my church for our efforts to feed the less fortunate. (Then we impose 20 minutes of bible study on them). Nothing is ever actually free right. :) Maybe we could help with this if it's real in my locale.

Is it time the Republicans removed Trump from consideration?

Are you asserting there are people who are earning too much money to qualify for food stamps, and these very same people are starving to death? Put me down as more than skeptical. I know a considerable number of people who work and receive food stamps. I'll talk to a few and ask them how much...

Is it time the Republicans removed Trump from consideration?

I don't understand how that is possible. Food stamp payments exceed what I spend on groceries each month by a good margin. It sounds like elderly not being properly cared for. I'm not well informed on that possibility.

Is it time the Republicans removed Trump from consideration?

A lot in that post Jay, and I have time to respond to some of it. I speak of "the middle" in the context of our US two party system. I simpler terms the REPs are conservative, ranging from very conservative Cruz to moderately conservative Kasich is arguably only moderately conservative). The...

Is it time the Republicans removed Trump from consideration?

It seems the country is in the mood for a new party. But there is really nothing "middle" about Bernie's platform. To me he seems farther left than most DEMs on a number of issues. If he scaled it back to the middle, he would be what I perceive as a middle of the road Democrat.
