  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My boyfriend is no longer a Christian

He sounds wonderful. Why break up with him? He has his own mind, he is seeking knowledge. Christians often speak about freedom of choice, so whats the problem.

Can I be Christian and Not Believe the Bible?

Yes, I too am beginning to wonder whether Christianity as presented to us is unsalvageable. Most Christians seem to think God is more interested in me having the right sort of beliefs in my head than how loving I am. And having looked into early christianity and the history of the bible I have...

Can I be Christian and Not Believe the Bible?

I think that to follow Christ and understand him and his message you would first need to embody the state of consciousness that he embodied. Jesus spoke about the Kingdom of heaven, and there is no kingdom without a King. And where did he say the kingdom was? He said it was inside us. So unless...

    Why are there religious people?

The new atheism gathered a great deal of pace after 9/11.I have read Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens books and have to say there is much I agree with. Hitchens particularly has a brilliant, lazer like, acid ability to cut through religious bull. They do tend to overlook much of the good though...

    Why are there religious people?

Because there are deeper levels of reality available than that which we normally experience. When people have glimpses or more profound experiences of an altered state of consciousness there is a need to make sense of it. Religion can do that. But religion can also get in the way of further...

    Universal reconciliation

Of course there is a difference in a human justice system and one proposed as an after life justice system. In the human justice system while there can be a corrective effect on an individual prisoner (who may turn their life around as a result), that is not its main purpose. The main purpose is...

    The Christian Life

When I was an evangelical christian I had the same problem. Some of the 'rules' are not that articulated. Its just that you can sense disapproval from from certain people if you mention things that you had previously thought were ok. For instance, one may go to yoga classes to keep fit and...

    Universal reconciliation

From the gnostic point of view none of us are recognisable as our former selves. Thats why we need saving. Whether somone does, or does not exist in a recognisable form would make no difference to the love we felt for them. I find the notion of eternal punishment repulsive and eternal...

    Universal reconciliation

I think that Universal reconcilliation is the most beautiful of the possible outcomes.Heaven just wouldn,t be that heavenly to me if I was there knowing that there were people I loved languishing in torment in hell. And since the Father's love is beyond anything I can imagine I guess He would...

An unorthodox hello from a seeker

Hi guys Ihope you are all well. I,m a Uk seeker who used to be a born again christian about 30 years ago and became very disillusioned with the whole thing. After much spiritual musing, meditating, reading and research I,m now looking at the Christian message in a new way. I suppose I would...
