  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Islam Discussions with Muslims about Islam

Hi Gryphon, Thanks for the information on peace/jihad, abrogation and taqiyya. However, I beg to differ on all three. [1] There is "Righteous Pacifisim" in the Qur'an which is reinforced by a hadith. The pacifist way adopted by the righteous son of Adam a.s. is related: [5:27-8] ‘‘And...

    Islamic Deception Al-Takeyya Al-Taqiyya

Peter, whom Jesus addressed as Satan, is the father of Taqiyya, which he practiced when he denied and cursed Christ thrice.

The Doomday Signs in Islam, Christianity, and Judaism

True. There are many more ahadith which state the same in different ways: As Allah commands, Hazrat Mahdi (as) will never shed blood Peace

Not only do people corrupt the teachings of religions with distortions and misinterpretations, they also do not act upon those teachings they accept. The Qur'an states: And of the fruits of the datepalms and the grapes, whence you obtain intoxicating drink and wholesome food. Verily, in that...

    Can Muslims disbelieve the Quran?

If a King gives a command to his chiefs or governors or ministers, those under them are also expected to follow the order. Iblis is said to be one of the jinn according to the Qur'an, not one of the malaaikah (angels). The angels do not have free-will and they always obey Allah, never disobeying...

    Can Muslims disbelieve the Quran?

It is an error to assume that iblis was one of the jinn just because he was expected to obey the command to submit to Adam a.s. which was given to the angels. Also, the Qur'an appears to make a distinction between iblis and satan. It is interesting that the Tanakh doesn't clearly present satan...

Supposedly the wife can weigh in

The Qur'an is a book which can be misinterpreted according to the Qur'an itself, as it itself states in [3:7] that those in whose hearts is a perversity will seek misinterpretation of it, ignoring other verses. Whereas those who have proper knowledge say that the entire Book is from Our Lord...

    No Compusion?

Poor Mansoor al-Hallaj. He was advised not to repeat his statements, even though he never meant them in a literal sense, as far as I can tell. But the ignorant mullahs were not willing to consider metaphorical usage. Besides, there is no punishment for blasphemy in the Qur'an. The Qur'an...

Supposedly the wife can weigh in

Agreed. Completely disagree. [4:25] restricts it to proper marriage, and even that to believing ones only, i.e. those pow captives who become believers of their own free will. [24:3] forbids marriage with idolators or adulterers/fornicators, so there is no way a believer is told to commit...

    No Compusion?

First of all, I believe the Qur'an is the word of Allah, not that of Muhammad a.s. Secondly, it is an instruction that: there should be no compulsion at all in religion. Besides, the Polytheists were indeed compelling Muslims to discard their belief in One God, and were persecuting Muslims...

Supposedly the wife can weigh in

Hi, The Qur'an [4:25] clearly commands marriage with 'right-hand possessions', i.e. those who were taken as captives when involved in waging an aggressive war against Muslims. Moreover, it restricts such marriage to believing hand-maids in the same verse [4:25]. This restriction is...

    Sooo many religions

We have literacy in many (but not all) parts of the world today, but this was not the case in the past. So the religious teachings were not preserved in writing, and many ideas were lost or distorted over the passage of time. This is easy to understand when you consider the distortion of the...
