  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Is baptism necessary for salvation?

In the above quoted post, please note that only the first two references (Acts 2:38 Acts 22) are truly water (ritual) baptism. Also note that we are baptized into Christ (Gal. 3:27), not by water but by the Spirit, making water only a symbolism of what is being done in the spirit. Let us also...

True Christians are anti-war and love Osama bin Laden.

Turning the other cheek is not a command to pacifism. This is commonly misunderstood by many people. It is a command to suffer PERSECUTIONS for His name's sake. It is not a call to lay down all arms against wicked nations and organizations that attack innocent (and I use that term in a...

Under shepherd\Pastor of the local Church

I'm not going to get in depth here, just wanted to put in my two cents here... The early church was lead by the Apostles, of this we know. Jerusalem was Apostle run, the members giving voluntary submission to them. The question has to be asked, however, is this how the church was actually...

Have the gifts of the Holy Spirit ceased?

(This is part two of a two part post) Having covered the nature of Tongues; it's meaning, purpose, use and priority amongst other gifts, we must now look at the validity of Tongues in today's church. More often that not, Tongues is greatly misused and abused in today's Church. Ecstatic...

Have the gifts of the Holy Spirit ceased?

(please note that my post was too long and had to be seperated into two parts) There is a lot of discussion over this passage. Hyper-Cessasionist use it to prove that the Gifts have ceased, but that's an extreme. Normally, this passage is simply used to argue the merits of Prophecy...

[looking for opinions] "Biblical response to Capitalism"

The early church having 'everything in common', the members selling property and all they had and distributing as each had need is neither socialism or communism. First, it wasn't a mandated practice. Each gave as the need arose in Acts. It was never mandated by any of the Apostles. The...

    Speaking in tongues

I know that some claim more than one kind of Gift of Tongues, but biblically that cannot be supported. We aslo have to keep in mind a few things about the Gift of the Holy Spirit (note the singular) particularly Tongues. First, Gifts are given to all beleivers. They are varied and...

Was Man ever meant to go to hell?

The Lake of Fire (what some call Hell) was created for the Devil an his angels, not for man. However, the wicked will share thier fate. Hell is the good new though, it has an end. It's end is in the Lake of Fire, and that is the bad news. In Christ Matthew

    Jesus did not CREATE himself

I will leave this a simple post. 1 Jn. 5:20 Phl. 2:5-11 Who do we worship? God alone, or man? If God alone, why do we and the angels worhisp the Man Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour? in Christ, Matthew

Can remission of sins come before baptism?

It is interesting to see this come down to the grammatical syntax of the Greek. I stayed away from that as much as possible because my grammatical understanding of the Greek is weak and must come from those that have given thier lives' work to studying it. Much of my study in the grammatics of...

Are Tongue Speaking and Water Baptism essential ??

Bonhoffer, See my posts on Remission of sins before baptism, and "Baptist, Presbiterian, Lutheran...." they go into more detail than I will here. Basically. No and No. Water baptism is an outward sign of the Spirit baptism into Christ that has happened within. Tongues is a...

Baptists, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Methodists help me

Not all baptists are premil-pretrib, and they don't all believe in the cessation doctrine. Surprisingly many, if not most, baptists (at least SBC) are either post- or amillenial in thier doctrine. Additionally, some are very charismatic embracing the Sign Gift of Tongues, and the imperfect...

Can remission of sins come before baptism?

I don't think that the Nicean Creed particularly states what 'baptism'. One must first come to a common understanding of baptism. Do we mean Ritual (water) or Real (Spirit) baptism. If we say ritual, then we are making a work our means of remission of sin. Scripture has a very large problem...
