  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

preachers are scared to say SALVATION CAN BE LOST

Argument about which is the most important, faith or good works, is facile for we must not only have faith in Christ but we must also do His will. We are instructed by Christ to engage with both. First and foremost to believe in Him and in the one who sent Him and to love our neighbour as...

preachers are scared to say SALVATION CAN BE LOST

Jesus warned His hearers, (Matthew. 7:15) “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” Much of His ministry consisted of severely confronting the false teaching of the religious leaders of His day. (compare. Matt. 16: 11-12 & Matt. 23: 1-39)...

    Do not sanitize Christianity.

The post site is titled Hamartiology which comes from the Greek word hamartos meaning sin. Hamartiology, therefore, is the study of sin and my original comment about not obeying the strictures of Christ who tells us to feed the hungry; visit those in prison etc must fall into the category of the...

    Do not sanitize Christianity.

John Chrysostom on the theology of giving.... "When you see on earth the man who has encountered the shipwreck of poverty, do not judge him, do not seek an account of his life, but free him from his misfortune. . . . The poor man has one plea, his want and his standing in need: . . . but even if...

    Do not sanitize Christianity.

Don't sanitize Christianity. Gentle Jesus meek and mild? Gentle, yes but meek and mild? Forget it. He was a long way from meek and mild and as tough as they come when propagating the Gospel of His Father's Kingdom. Most folk will grant that he was a lovely chap who seemed to do a few good...

    How God found me.

Until about thirty years ago, my view of religion was that it was a psychological crutch required by neurotic people to enable them to better face the rigours of life and in my work life I used and discarded people as if they were so much flotsam. My wife who had taught Sunday school, had been a...
