  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

USA Today ADMITS Fabricating At Least TWENTY-THREE Articles

Are people really claiming that Donald Trump was accurately calling out fake news? That's risible and embarrassing as a claim. He made the most general possible criticisms of news when it was unfavourable to him. That's not fake news. Meanwhile, let's remember what else he was brilliant at:

You must know that's not the story with Weinstein. You must know that they deliberately reversed the "day of absence" for students of colour, for fear that the new administration would pursue policies that demonised them. You must know that white absence was requested but not mandatory. It was a...

It's OK. I'm through on this. We disagree. Go in peace.

Then I don't think others and I did misunderstand you, and I disagree in the strongest possible terms that it would have been appropriate to ask, at that press conference, who propped the door open or why. That will rightly be the subject of an investigation, but not by speculative media coverage.

Fair enough. There are also plenty of Muslims who renounce Boko Haram in Nigeria, and argue that Islam's true nature is peace. I won't debate that specific point, but I agree that Christian militias are hardly Christian. Thanks for the link. I'll try to follow it some time. But again, I'm...

OK. Respectfully, a few of us got the wrong impression from how you were posting, that you wanted to find out almost immediately - including by the reporters asking which teacher(s) left the door open - that you were seeking that as a "now" answer. If you weren't, I apologise for...

The persecution of Christians is real in Nigeria, but not by the state. It's by Islamic militants. And the rule of law is weak. And there are well-documented examples of Muslims being killed by "Christian" militias. It's tragic. As is so common in countries ravaged by Islamist extremists, most...

I'm not sure we're even disagreeing here. The investigation, when it happens, should find out what went wrong, and help avoidable repeats. Whatever the politicians' rhetoric, devastatingly, this will likely happen again. The blame game is less helpful than the lessons.

I don't know what you think makes a country Christian. Nigeria - the example you quote - is almost 50-50 Muslim and Christian. Both groups have been known to persecute the others. But the bigger point is that you said That's obviously untrue. None of the countries I quoted are Islamic nations...

I agree. I'm a Bible believing Christian, and Scripture is clear. But such sin is between the individual and God. We should uphold Scripture as standard bearers, in word and deed.

I can't tell if your main point is that LEOs, alone, should not be subject to investigation. That much I can agree. But I took no joy in seeing Chief McCraw's obvious devastation when facing the journalists, and I would take no joy in finding out who the teacher was who left the door open...

    British embassy raised LGBT flag

In Post #26, you said: "No other group has a flag flown there, why should they?" I'm just pointing out that other groups do: Ukrainians, and survivors of gender based violence, to name two that I know of. There may be more, for all I know. You say that they're celebrating the sexuality of...

I'm a father. So what? No one has a monopoly on compassion. Especially when the compassion we feel for one group is at the expense of another. What if it had been one of the poor teachers who was murdered? What if it wasn't - and that person now feels viscerally, cruelly distraught? You want to...

And you yourself said, apparently having defended LEOs, the following: So you're suggesting reporters should not blame LEOs, but should start asking which teacher left the door open, and whether they were one of the ones who was murdered. Call me over-sentimental, but I would not see that as kind.
