  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Coming to agreement on financial giving to the church

Yeah if I felt strongly about it I'm sure he'd accommodate. But.. The contribution wouldn't reflect the values of our household... if that makes sense.

Coming to agreement on financial giving to the church

I don't contribute financially to my church. My hubby is the one who makes the money right now (I have two babies) and is an atheist. I don't feel like it'd be right to use our resources that way and actually that was my decision. If I were making my own money as you were, I'd probably make a...

    Lost Family :(

this does cut both ways sometimes. My hubby's atheist family was against us getting together because of my religion and can be very intolerant, frankly more than mine.

Question about my future sex life with wife

I don't think this would really affect things in the end. It may just mean she's got a big sex drive and it's a challenge for her to keep it under wraps. If you have concerns about it having changed her fundamentally, maybe you could have a discussion and ask her specifically about the things...

    book recommendations?

Oh I always wanted to read the Confessions. I'm starting with a couple Sproul selections and the Grudem theology and then going to visit back to make my next selections. I'm very eager to start. God bless everyone for your help :)

    book recommendations?

This is all wonderful. I love the free ebooks site! I've heard a lot about Grudem's book too so I'm definitely adding that to my now long list. I'll be revisiting this thread for some time I think :) thanks all

    wow and hi!

I've been a little surprised by some of the replies I've gotten though. I believe that entertaining into 'unequally yoked' marriages is a sin. That doesn't mean that I think the unbelieving spouse should be treated badly or looked down upon or that the marriage is doomed to failure, but the...

    wow and hi!

hi mkgal, we are definitely more alike than not! Same interests in many areas, and similar temperament. I think it can be argued though that the biggest thing that separates us is really a big one, we have much different answers to the 'ultimate questions'. If something good happens to me I've...

How do you spend the Lord's Day?

I set it aside for church and extra bible study and prayer. I also try to have a better-than-normal dinner with family.

    book recommendations?

Thank you everyone! I do have the westminister confessions but I may go through that again before I start on the other recommendations. Apologetic thanks for taking the time to write such detailed reviews. I'm definitely going to dive into some Sproul. I have heard good things about him and...

Any book recommendations for someone needing strengthening in theology? I attend a reformed presbyterian church, was raised that way, but looking to get deeper into it especially since I have babies now.

    "Something Positive" [for Unequally Yokeds]

I love my husband's inquisitive nature, his smarts, his humor that makes me laugh so hard it hurts, his kindness to me and our babies

    wow and hi!

lol I don't mind it. It's moving together, side by side, in step, though it is funny to think of it as literally oxen plowing a field or something.
