  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    support in scripture

Although both Jew and Greek are in Christ, they are never considered to be the same. Gal 3 is very clear in pointing out that the connection is with the promise (SINGULAR) of all nations being blessed. The other promises given to Abraham are to the Jews. God Bless!

    support in scripture

@ Super Kal You can find scripture which states that the church and Israel are one in Christ, according to the promise of all nations being blessed. However, in terms of the church being or becoming Israel, there is no such scripture. Very astute observation. For an issue of this importance...

If the church is Christ' bride, then WHY is she pregnant? God Bless!

Please...no more law! No more ministry of death!

@ Pinetree Not a problem. I just feel the reason we disagree so much here is because we've confused the covenants, and how they apply to us. It's my own... "hang-up" and to me we're starting from 1 + 1 = 3, and then wondering why we can't agree on our conclusions based upon that. I'm...

Please...no more law! No more ministry of death!

@ Squint I would argue that these promises don't pertain to all... Gen 12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: Gen 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: ...while this...

Please...no more law! No more ministry of death!

@ Pinetree So... and example from the Bible of someone ministering something that doesn't pertain to them vs. your claim that someone can't minister something that doesn't pertain to them is "silly reasoning". Hmmm... Amen! You'll get no argument on that fact here. I have proven to you that...

Please...no more law! No more ministry of death!

@ Pinetree Ok, I'll tell you what. I won't call it the OC. How about the GC, the grace covenant. Is that better? Whatever you would like to refer to it as, I'm stating that it's the covenant we belong to, and NOT the New Covenant. I'm stating that grace came to us (ALL NATIONS) through the...

Please...no more law! No more ministry of death!

@ Squint The covenants surely don't work against each other, just as God doesn't work against God. However, there is a separation regarding who is to receive what. If you read the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen 12:1-3), there are promises (plural) there. Gentiles are connected only to the promise...

Please...no more law! No more ministry of death!

Boy oh boy..Paul was a minister of the new cov to the gentiles. Yet some think the new covenant is not for the gentiles? Jonah was a minister to the people of Nineveh regarding their fate. That in NO WAY made him a part of their fate. The minister is the equivalent of the "waiter" in...

Please...no more law! No more ministry of death!

I never disproved that Moses (the law) is the Old Covenant? You're just not paying attention. Gal 3:17And this I say, [that] the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of...

Please...no more law! No more ministry of death!

@ Pinetree Does that say covenants of promise (SINGULAR) or covenants of promises (PLURAL)? Funny, but... you didn't highlight the word promise... Hmmm? Is the blood of Christ only for the New Covenant? So are we blessed through the covenant with Abraham, or through the New...

Please...no more law! No more ministry of death!

@ Pinetree Oh,... so when Samuel and all of the other prophets spoke on it, we should just ignore that? So when Samuel and all of the other prophets spoke on it, they didn't address the people as Moses did? Did they speak on it in a private upper room somewhere, and send it into orbit? :DWhat...

Please...no more law! No more ministry of death!

@ Pinetree Correct. Since the writer is speaking to the Jews, he's comparing the law in the way it was given through Moses to the law in the way it will be administered under the NC. That is why it is a shadow of heavenly things. The problem here is that you're depending on a translation that...

Please...no more law! No more ministry of death!

@ Squint I love it when someone butts in. The more the merrier! Well written response! (as to be expected per your profession). I only wanted to confirm the fact that the covenant God made, which includes both Jew and Gentile, in Gen. 12:1-3 was unbreakable, whereas the covenant with Moses...

Please...no more law! No more ministry of death!

@ Pinetree Here's what I must ask... why would you say that I said things that I never said??? The NC fulfilled? Never said it. Gentiles a part of the NC? Never said it. These are things you're making up, and attributing to me. So why would you do that? You must improve your...
