  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Ask an Atheist

You could make a career out of arguing for either side of that one.

I'm sure you can take it. It is the same thing. People making some claim, with certainty, which they have no way of proving. Nor do I. Agreed.

It wasn't a random choice, it took a while for me to decide to be Atheist. Part of my family is Catholic, most of it is Protestant. My family was not oppressively religious though, but I would say that I was raised a Christian. It had a lot to do with the ideals of religious folks where I grew...

Waffles because of the handy-dandy syrup pockets which are engineered into them. Because it is problematic to get an optimal syrup/pancake mixture without the nice grid of purpose-made pockets. I also like the crunchiness in a properly-cooked waffle. Pancakes are for camping, roughing it.

It is my observation that religion is often harmful to society (or is motive to things which are harmful). The few exceptions are the rare religious folks/groups that I have met who take their faith seriously, and thoughtfully use it "for good."

Sure, I reckon it is pretty arrogant to make such a claim as "There is definitely no ..." and that of the people who make such statements, few are worth listening to. They haven't any way to know. So I probably agree more with the "agnostic/weak atheist" That said, I am firmly anti-religion with...

As you can see I am new here, can you suggest a more appropriate place? I wouldn't be offended if a mod moved the thread. What do you mean by that?

Not much, IMO. With respect to the subject at hand, there are those who would insist that I am not Atheist; since I am unwilling to claim with absolute certainty that there is no God. Call me what you like. It is my position that the likelihood of the existence of a God as depicted in most...
