  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What Christians must do to keep their salvation

You say that we can do nothing that will save us, it seems a strange thing to be commanded to save yourselves from this untoward generation, when we can do nothing to the purpose at all. You say this of faith "our action of believing does not save us, but we know from 1 Cor 1:21 that God is...

    Eph 1:4 exegeted

Paul is writing a letter to Ephesus, the usage of "we" in chapter 2 is not mostly a general we, or as you put it (believers per 1:19), but are those with him, having come so far in Christ, or "who first trusted in Christ" (per v12). For he distinguishes the many early "we's" from the "ye" which...

Is James 2 Justification before Men or God?

I have no disagreement with these scriptures. Rom 4 is plainly true, but it has to be taken in light of the whole text. This is all in the midst of a much larger body of writing. The works which he specifically identifies 3:21,28 4:13-15 are works of the law. But faith works also, and has it's...

Proof of limited atonement from the Holy Spirit

Eph 2 Some emphasis I commend on vv 1-3,5,11-13, but please read at least the whole chapter. They were "dead in sin and trespasses, walked according to the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience, and were by nature the children of wrath "even as others."" The question is not...

Why do some denominations not believe in Once Saved, Always Saved?

I think this post is a great point for me to enter a consideration to both parties: [Albion;65850168], and [catholichomeschooler;65850206]. The scripture "He that endures to the end shall be saved," is argued as to whether he who endures to the end was saved already, or was he who does not...

    Quick question for arminians

It is written that the Lord killeth, and maketh alive; yet it is written also that death came by man, and resurrection from the dead came also by man. Eve ate, and yet the serpent is also cursed. The Jews disobeyed, and yet the name of the Lord was blasphemed. Where they obeyed, God was honored...

Proof of limited atonement from the Holy Spirit

The preaching of the gospel is to convert unbelievers to believers, thus, "repent and believe the gospel." So believers is not a fixed category, any more than the military. The military is always recruiting new people. Whereas you mention a failure to understand the design of the atonement to...

Is there room to boast in heaven?

The grace of God which brings salvation is found in Tts 2.

Is there room to boast in heaven?

If you prove my argument wrong in any point, I will retract it. If you cannot, pleas don't respond cheaply, with a blurb of a statement, which will certainly do more to stir strife, than address my argument. I responded to your post diligently and with substance and without perverse usage of...

Is there room to boast in heaven?

The just live by faith, and thus even the faith given imposes a requirement. The grace of God which brings salvation also makes requirement, holy, and to the unwilling, impossible requirements: to deny ungodliness, and worldly lust, and live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world...

Is there room to boast in heaven?

It does not follow that a saint would boast in obeying God, even if he was required to obey, which he is. Anyone who argues this way misunderstands Paul, and certainly has not been taught by Jesus. Jesus makes us to know both, that there are requirements to enter the kingdom, AND they must not...

Is James 2 Justification before Men or God?

Only God can justify, as it is written, whether in the eyes of men or in his own eyes. Men either by his spirit agree with his justification, or their judgment is brought to nothing. Answer me this. Inasmuch as you speak as one who is justified, who is it that justified you in your own eyes, God...

Is James 2 Justification before Men or God?

I don't have any problems with Rom 3:28. It falls squarely in a discourse which includes chapter 2, with particular consideration of v13(please be faithful with the scripture, don't just read the one verse I emphasized for you). There is a law only the doers of which will be justified, not...

Is James 2 Justification before Men or God?

I had a moment here at work. I will thank forceoftime for even attemting to deal substantively with my argument and not respond cheaply. I will espond in kind when I have time.

Is James 2 Justification before Men or God?

It is God that justifies, as it is written. Therefore James, who is a true minister of the gospel, did not teach men justification before men, but God.
