  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you pray for God to help you kill the enemy?

Wars will happen until Jesus returns. What is a soldier supposed to do? Those who have relationships with God are praying - what should they be talking to God about? God will accomplish His will, He will use all things for good to those who beleive in Him. Should we just pray that His will...

    Whatever happened to winning wars?

Unfortunatly, war is a part of our human nature. Between idividuals, gangs, races, or nations, someone will always be trying to destroy someone else. It would be nice to only fight richeous and moral wars, but we are all just human. Right and wrong is precived differently by different people...

    Question from a recruit

Drill instructors are not yelling at you personaly. You have been selected to participate in a "training moment." The example is for everyone. They can't kill you. You're not special, just another recruit. They want everyone to feel part of the same group. Suffering together, supporting...

    Foxhole Christian?

Combat is so overwhelming it open doors in our minds that nothing else might do. God can use anything to draw us to all that is right and true - ultimately Himself. Life is so easy in the US, we have no "needs" that can only be addressed by God. God bless your husband.

Do you pray for God to help you kill the enemy?

I can't believe "killing is just killing" unless you're a total sociopath. Taking the life of someone is imtimately personal and unforgettable. After the heat of a fire fight, everyone wants to see the casualties and the dead. I never saw anyone just walk away. Part of it is acknowledging...

Do you pray for God to help you kill the enemy?

I was a christian when I went to Vietnam. I grew up thinking life should generally be fair, just and precious. I found just the opposite out in the jungles of Vietnam where men didn't play fair, justice didn't happen and life was wasted for little reason. It was a very confusing year in my...

Serious Consideration of the National Guard

My advice is don't second guess the millitary. Do the best you can, be honest and let God be in control of the outcome. Combat isn't bigger than God. He can use that as well as anything, for good in our lives.

I think dreams are an outlet for our subconscious. It seems, in your dream, that you're trapped in something you have no control of - but you already believe that. Dreams don't make our reality. You will learn to survive and manage ptsd as your future unfolds. Too bad we can't see it ahead...

Serious Consideration of the National Guard

If you join the NG you will probably end up in some sort of combat situation somewhere. In spite of becoming a Chaplin's Assistant, you will be in contact with those who are hurting and need answers to the unanswerable questions - "Why me?....Why didn't I die along with my friends?....Why does...

Wish there were some magic words to make you feel better and take away the images that bring terror to you. I wish we could somehow turn on a switch that brings Jesus to our immediate rescue like we want Him to. I wish He would invade our emotions and cause peace to push out everything else...

yeh - I always want things to happen more quickly, or more like I think they should. He never seems to take my advice very well, always acting like He knows better. If He'd just come and argue with me once and a while it'd be more fair. Sometimes I think He can't see what I'm going through or...

Staying Strong4Him - how are you doing? Comments have drifted off a little on this site. Wanted to let you know someone is still praying for you. You're not alone. You have worth, Jesus died for you. God is not bound by time like we are. He sees the worst of our lives. He sees how to use...

Might have burnt too many bridges

Glad to meet you Dom. When I was younger I was afraid that I'd commit the unpardonable sin, and thus make the rest of my life a total washout. I accepted Jesus' gift when I as eleven but let the exuberence wash out through the selfishness of teenage years. I didn't deserve it, but God brought me...

i was never depressed until i tried to be a christian

God will wait while you do things your way. He gives us free choice to make good or bad decisions. None of us deserve to have a relationship with Him, but He loves us unconditionally. I can't understand that. He doesn't think like I do. I'm pretty thick headed so God had to use a big 2X4 and...

    New guy

I've made a few posts recently and felt I should introduce myself. Born in 1945, pretty normal childhood up through college. I accepted Jesus when I was eleven but was pretty wishy-washy by my early 20's. In order to get my military obligation over with, I ended up voluteering for the draft and...
