  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Paul's argument against the idea that water baptism saves. (Implied)

It's the actual blood, spilled on the cross, not wine, or a cracker, or bread that atones for our sin. One time Jesus died for all, and then rose again. This forgiveness is not given in doses, to be earned by eating bread and drinking wine. When we're in Christ, we have atonement for sin, and...

Is there any truth in the ideas expressed by double predestination?

I think that Calvin's use of the word 'predestination' for unbelievers didn't mean what we mean by it these days. Calvin seemed to use the theological terms "ordain" and "predestine" interchangeably, but I can't say for sure what his thinking was. I only say this because in his writings he would...

Paul's argument against the idea that water baptism saves. (Implied)

Again, interpreting a verse on an island is not the proper way to to read the Bible. We need context to do that. Context is why the correct interpretation cannot be seen by the natural mind. 1 Corinthians 2:19. So, to answer your question, my definition of 'tasted death for everyone' is...

    Are Freewill & Predestination Compatible?

I would say the first question that must be asked from each person, for clarity, is what are we claiming that our wills are free from? Free from coercion? That's what most people mean by it. What does being a slave to sin really mean? My short answer: Everything we do is tainted with sin and...

Paul's argument against the idea that water baptism saves. (Implied)

The offer is for everyone. His death on the cross only applies when one is placed into Christ by faith. We are universally dead in Adam. And we need to die to Adam and be raised up, born again in Christ.

Paul's argument against the idea that water baptism saves. (Implied)

His offer of salvation is for everyone, but the old man, and the necessary death that must precede the life, being born again, does not happen until a person is placed into Christ. That's always the result of someone initially believing. If everyone already died that death before they came to...

Paul's argument against the idea that water baptism saves. (Implied)

'The benefits of Jesus dying on the cross is offered to everyone' is probably a better way to say it. One must be in Christ spiritually to receive those blessings of atonement, righteousness of God imputed, and access to His death and resurrection to be born again and begin the process of being...

Paul's argument against the idea that water baptism saves. (Implied)

But Plover, God doesn't command that we 'lean towards' the Gospel. This is no 'minor view'. Again, it's in writing in this very thread. People believe that one must be water baptized to be saved. And those same people try to pass that off as the same things that everyone does. It's not the...

Paul's argument against the idea that water baptism saves. (Implied)

I have been reading your posts. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Sometimes, when so many today like to say things without saying them, so that they can point and say 'see, they believe just like us', when I don't. And so many claiming that 'we're not really saying what we're saying, and we're...

Paul's argument against the idea that water baptism saves. (Implied)

Hi Mark You're post rings of relativism and universalism. Am I misreading you? But there are limits to His grace. God can reach any result, but He cannot do anything. He cannot lie, He cannot break His seal of the Holy Spirit in us. He cannot act contrary to His own nature. He is the Truth...

Paul's argument against the idea that water baptism saves. (Implied)

Hey P Actually, they all say the same thing when the context is considered. There are a few verses that are mistranslations, but that's to be expected when the options, at least linguistically, are equal. The Bible must determine the rest, which is correct. Sound hermeneutics can weed out the...

Paul's argument against the idea that water baptism saves. (Implied)

It is irresponsible to assume that water baptism must be necessary in combination with faith for one to be indwelt with the Holy Spirit and placed into Christ Jesus, since we have examples in that same historical book, that unique point in time and history where the Holy Spirit was placed into...

Paul's argument against the idea that water baptism saves. (Implied)

Hey Mark I do not believe that our initial faith needs to pass righteous standards to be genuine. The faithfulness that you speak of is the result of that life and the fruit of the Spirit. That's someone who is indwelt and already in Christ. It's not backwards with the correct context. The...

Paul's argument against the idea that water baptism saves. (Implied)

Hey P What is it that they see God giving them in this communion that we don't already have from being placed into Christ, the spiritual Body? What does this "grace" represent. Can a man be justified without it? And a question for you. What must a man do to be saved? Communion cannot give...
