  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    EMERGENT church "movement"

I'm sure that for many, knowing they are loving and serving the same God who existed since the beginning of time it is enough. It is too bad that you feel you must put your own traditions up on a pedastal so you can bring down those who differ.

Why don't some Christians like modern praise and worship?

Ok. This brings us back to square one. Here is what you originally said: . Now, how does the scripture that you provided prove that orthodox worship is the only correct worship, or, as you say, what God has called for? Which is, I believe what you were stating. no?

Why don't some Christians like modern praise and worship?

I have been to a couple of services with a friend. It was simply the way you said it; I interpreted that differently than what I think you meant. What is an opinion appeared to be said as a statement, or fact. That was what I was referring to as arrogant. Sorry for misunderstanding.

Why don't some Christians like modern praise and worship?

As have I, and in my opinion I would disagree. Should I now change the way I see things because you have declared that one is superior to the other?

Why don't some Christians like modern praise and worship?

That's certainly rather arrogant and prideful of you to say.

Why don't some Christians like modern praise and worship?

Why do you feel that way? Does God's word make this clear to you? If so, how? There is no right or wrong music style to use. Music is one of the tools we use use to worship God.

I really don't understand what you are trying to say then. Could you try to re-phrase it?

Why don't some Christians like modern praise and worship?

That's true, sometimes it can be confused. However, in this case, that's not what I'm talking about so this really has nothing to do with what we're talking about.

Why don't some Christians like modern praise and worship?

Uh yeah, they are. The first time you said it wasn't a corporate affair. The second time you said that you did say hymns were for corporate worship. If that's not what you meant, fine but that's not what you said.

HEre is what you said earlier: When were we talking about lust?

Earlier you said: I bolded the last part... Are you sure?

I think you are right...it is good for those who dislike contemporary music to hear this because they are always claiming that emotion is bad and has no place when we worship God through music. Thanks for admitting that emotion is present music other than contemporary :)

Why don't some Christians like modern praise and worship?

You've got to be kidding...this is your answer? It does not seem to indicate, as you put it, it plainly says to. If what you say is true, why then did Paul sing hymns to God? Perhaps he didn't have a clue what he was doing? Acts 16: 25About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing...

Why don't some Christians like modern praise and worship?

If you genuinely believe this, sadly I think you miss the point of what agape love is. While it may be MORE than just a feeling or emotion, that certainly does not exclude these things.

Perhaps you wouldn't mind citing the scripture that determines which music style God has called "right" and that which He has called "wrong". Thanks, I'd appreciate that :)
