  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    The true Name of God

Do you have any links for the History of YHWH as you’ve posted here. I find it very interesting. The things you’ve written make a lot of sense to me as an Orthodox Christian because in our tradition we talk about how parts of the truth of God are found in all religions due to the fact that all...

    Old Testament Apocrypha

He’s chapter 2 from the Wisdom of Solomon. Read it and tell me if you think this book was prophetically speaking of the Jewish people and then of Christ. It’s hard for me to see this detailed of a prophecy and consider the book non-inspired like the Protestant view today. The truth is there’s...

    Old Testament Apocrypha

The MT wasn’t put together until around 1000 AD if memory serves me correctly. The reason why we don’t find those books in any MT version is because they refused to allow any books into their canon if they couldn’t prove it was written in Hebrew originally. During the time of the Septuagint...

    Is masturbating a sin?

Forgive me for disagreeing but St. Matthew 18:29-30 has to do with Gods mercy being so rich and wonderful towards the forgiveness of our sins. As Jesus taught we have to reciprocate that same mercy towards those who have sinned against us. Jesus merely uses a hypothetical situation based on...

    Judaism

I would agree with PsaltiChrysostom. In EO we use the Septuagint which was translated by Jewish leaders prior to Christ. The Hebrew language had basically died. MT seems to have some anti-Jesus modifications. I don’t have any lists to show that. You would have to do some research.

So I would say there’s two traditions. Tradition of God (Holy Tradition) and Tradition of men. All of Holy Tradition from Adam until now is what I would consider Orthodoxy. As far as the second question, As an Orthodox Christian I would always suggest going Eastern Orthodox. sorry for typos, my...

Are we subject to the Old Covenant today?

The physical Nation of Israel in the OT was talking directly to the physical Nation as well as prophetically to the Nation of Israel that was to come, namely the church and body of Jesus Christ. I believe it was a Torah law that required a prophet to be proven as true or be killed as a false...

Are we subject to the Old Covenant today?

In the tradition of a Christianity that I belong to we have the teaching that Christ fulfilled the law. He directly taught us various meanings that were misunderstood and He indirectly taught also through His Apostles. So we live by the fullness of the law as taught by the Lord. Is circumcision...

    Overcoming Sinful Addiction

Great points… I would add also 21 It is not everyone who tells me, ‘Lord, Lord’ who will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will tell me in that Day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your Name, cast out demons in your Name...

    Is masturbating a sin?

Every Christian tradition looks at sin differently unfortunately. If your tradition looks at sin in a very legal/ judicial way then masturbation is a problem because it’s not clearly written as a law. But that opens up a million problems, are 3 beers allowed by 4 a sin? Are 3 meals a day a go...

    Judaism

We’ll hopefully agree to disagree, especially on God becoming a Pharisee. I never had the intention to debate Christianity in the forum only to give some Orthodoxy perspective to questions posed. May God bless you on your journey towards the truth of Christ.

    Modern False Prophets

And thanks for being courteous in understanding our differences. May God bring us all to perfect unity in fulfillment of Jesus’ prayer in St. John’s gospel.

    Modern False Prophets

Jesus clearly warned of false prophets, false teachers, and false christs. Throughout the history of the world pre and post Christ we see this being the case. Regardless if they’re heresies, governments, or pagan religions. They’re out there, they happen, they get exposed, they reinvent...

    Is masturbating a sin?

In Orthodoxy sin is the misuse of our God given powers. Not necessarily a legal or illegal act. Anything can really be turned into a sin if done for self-love, aka pride. Masturbation is one of several selfish acts of sexual immoral behavior. Does anyone think that Adam was allowed to hide...

    Judaism

Rabbinic Judaism is basically the surviving sect of the Pharisees who worked tirelessly against Christ and ultimately worked with the Sadducees to crucify Christ. They created the Tradition of men that Jesus constantly corrected. The Holy Tradition of the Jewish people was fulfilled in Christ...
