  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why didn't God the father go to die on the cross instead of His Son?

Yes but I thought that there is a distinction between the Father and the Son.

Why didn't God the father go to die on the cross instead of His Son?

I don't mean this in a critical way. But is there a reason that the Father didn't go and had to send His son instead?

I am an atheist who wants to believe in Christ

I don't think that it is necessary for you to ignore these misgivings. But focusing on them will not get you where you would like to go. I have many misgivings as well. My solution is to wait for God to dispel my roadblocks. You are showing signs that God is working in your life already...

    Obedience to God

Obedience to God seems to be the litmus test for whether we love Jesus or not, and if we must love God with our whole heart, mind, and strength to enter heaven, then we must be completely obedient in all things or we go to hell. Maybe I've set up a false premise here but here's my question...

Why would Jesus rather we be cold than lukewarm?

Doesn't that mean that if we can't be on fire for Jesus all the time then He'd rather we live like we're on a highway to hell?

    God's Love

I haven't been able to understand that either

Is there ever a good enough reason to commit suicide?

I hate giving people advice when they are in worse situations than I am, but I wonder if this is what the Bible means when it says that those that endure to the end will receive the crown of life. We continue to experience troubles in this life. I think God wants you to continue to endure...

Eternal Torment, Annihilation or Universal Reconciliation?

I believe in ECT. I wonder sometimes if I believe that bc of the way I was raised. Idk. It seems like the Bible is stating that there will be ECT to me. There is some wiggle room for annihilation though, and I would be perfectly fine with that even if there was some limited punishment after...

Is there a problem with taking Christianity too seriously?

I guess as long as what he is doing revolves around love for God and love for his neighbor then there is no problem. As I understand it, what God wants most from us is to love Him first and then others as ourselves

Jesus drowns 2-year-old children & he sets them on fire?

I would like to see God that way, but the Bible seems to contradict that view in my opinion.

Jesus drowns 2-year-old children & he sets them on fire?

Would you say all deaths are out of His control? They are just random or caused by the devil?

Jesus drowns 2-year-old children & he sets them on fire?

So God doesn't have much control of what goes on here on earth?

Jesus drowns 2-year-old children & he sets them on fire?

Actually I have thought about this before and it clears up a lot of questions I have about the Bible.

Jesus drowns 2-year-old children & he sets them on fire?

So do you believe that He allows horrible deaths because it serves a greater purpose?

Jesus drowns 2-year-old children & he sets them on fire?

Do you believe that God is capable of preventing horrible deaths from happening?
