  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Universalism and Particular Redemption

Catholics believe in sola scriptura too. You can't get around it. To deny it, you have to affirm it.

    THE ORIGINS OF THE PAPACY

So this is new to me; I've never heard this before. My question is this; are you saying that Jesus is the royal steward? and if so, isn't it disrespectful to say that Jesus is anything less than the king Himself? My understanding is that when Jesus announced the presence of the kingdom the...

    THE ORIGINS OF THE PAPACY

With all this, I am in agreement. Apostolic succession is not taught in Scripture. This is why most evangelicals don't believe it. This is all fine but it's merely your own idea. It's not grounded in anything God ever said; and therefore, evangelicals don't accept it. God certainly taught...

    THE ORIGINS OF THE PAPACY

Sure...no problem. I don't disagree. I just don't see how you get from this to the idea of a supreme pope over all the church with the power of speaking infallibly and transferring this privilege to his successors. It's one thing to recognize that Peter was appointed by Jesus as the person...

    THE ORIGINS OF THE PAPACY

but I don't disagree with any of this. I completely agree that Jesus made Peter the rock on which He was going to build His church and that Peter was given the unique responsibility to open the gospel door to the Gentiles. Peter took the lead on a lot of issues in the early church. We agree...

    THE ORIGINS OF THE PAPACY

But the Bible nowhere teaches that Peter himself was the vicar of Jesus. In fact, Jesus gave the Holy Spirit to all the disciples in John 20:22 and appointed all of them to carry on the mission that He had first received from the Father: Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the...

    THE ORIGINS OF THE PAPACY

How do you get from: Peter was told to "feed My sheep" Peter was given a unique responsibility Peter was given a name change Jesus told Peter that He was praying for him Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him ...to the idea that there is one man who has complete and unquestioned authority over the...

    A regenerate church membership

Brother, do you agree that the kingdom of God has in it both regenerate and unregenerate people?

How does the Holy Spirit guide Christians?

Let me put it this way. On a Sunday morning, go to a Wesleyan, Lutheran, Episcopalian, Reformed, Baptist, Congregational, or any other kind of evangelical church and you will hear more or less the same thing. I think it's actually remarkable how much unanimity there is in all these.

    A regenerate church membership

Well this is one method but by no means the most direct method. The best and most direct method for knowing that we are saved is to take refuge in Jesus Christ. To reject establishing our own righteousness (Rom 9:30-33) and to receive His perfect righteousness as a free gift and to rest...

    A regenerate church membership

Well I think a person can know their own regeneration. We, after all, can know what lives in our own heart. I am arguing that the elders of a church cannot know and therefore shouldn't even attempt to try and know whether a person is truly regenerate or not.

    A regenerate church membership

But Jesus, in the parable of the weeds and the wheat explicitly forbids the church from even making the attempt to discern whether someone is regenerate or not. The elders of the church must accept a person's profession of faith in Christ at face value. Jesus does not allow them to pry further...

Can you provide the reference? I'm not sure to which verse you are referring. again, the reference would be nice. and perhaps you could define theosis for us as its not a concept with which I am entirely familiar.

    Romans 4, water baptism?

The most obvious reference to Spirit baptism is here: 1Cor. 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members; and all the members of the body, whereas they are many, yet are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For in one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles...

    Romans 4, water baptism?

Yes, I agree with you in terms of "I thank God I baptized none of you but Crispus and Gaius." But when Paul says: "Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the Gospel." that seems a pretty clear statement that he valued the one much higher than the other. no? btw....I found chapter...
