  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I never felt Jesus' presence in my life. God never spoke to me or answered my prayers in any definitive way. When I began to think about what I had grown up knowing and asked questions, they were met with riddles and sometimes even ridicule. Doing my own studying, I determined that living my life for me would be more productive than attempting to live it for an absentee deity.

Argumentum ad martyrdom -- I perceive that they don't like me, therefore I am correct.

"God does not play dice with the universe: He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared to an obscure and complex variant of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time." - Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Good Omens
