  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Big Bang

Of course not, what I meant was whether God used gravity to indirectly create the solar system (the traditional scientific viewpoint), or God created the solar system directly but in a way as if it were created by gravity (the YEC viewpoint).

    Big Bang

Some comments from a "YEC plus astrophysics" viewpoint: You may be right, but as a Christian I am uncomfortable with this line of argument. I think the only criteria to accept a world view is whether it is true or false. It should not matter whether the world view is good or bad for me...

Pi = 3.0, and the Bible tells me so!

(Sigh)... I would already be happy when atheists would not think they always win against Creationists, in Internet forums...

    Two creations?

You're right, the stopping of time is nowhere in the Bible. But assumptions about the disappearance of the original light, the volcanic activity, ice age and so on is also nowhere in the Bible. So we need to fill gaps either way. What I just suggested was instead of re-interpreting Genesis...

    Two creations?

The world described in Genesis 1 through 7 obviously differs from our world in several aspects: - Day light was not emitted by the sun (Gen 1:5) - Space was filled with water (Gen 1:7) - The earth was inside a vault that hold the waters apart (Gen 1:7) - Sun and moon are lights fixed to the...

    God's word or human reason?

The issue arose over the question whether future is predestined. Aggie argued that the existence of superluminal movement proves a predestined future since for superluminal particles time runs backwards. In my opinion, the Lorentz transformation prevents superluminal movement, and in our...

The Biblical Hebrew Creation Account: New Numbers Tell The Story

Yes. But that's because we assume that the Bible is true. If you understand a text literal (in the sense of nonfiction) and also assume the text is true, then you normally conclude that the text is historical. We assume the truth of the Bible because Scripture was inspired by God. This must not...

The Biblical Hebrew Creation Account: New Numbers Tell The Story

I also always wondered about how tradition influence our "literal" understanding of the Bible. For instance, according to the traditional view God is dispassionate, unchanging, unfathomable, while according to Scripture He is passionate, changing, and fathomable. According to the traditional...

    Is Eden, Paradise and Heaven?

The tree is a symbol of choice. Due to his free will, Adam had the choice to eat from the tree of knowledge, and he had the choice to eat from the tree of life. The tree of life was not forbidden at first, but the choice was taken away from Adam after he valued knowledge higher than obedience.

    God's word or human reason?

This is a valid objection and would require an extended reply that I maybe write one day. But the basic idea is that God created us in His image, which means that human properties such as our logic also applies to God. For us it is logical and understandable that God created our world in...

    God's word or human reason?

Obviously I can't comment on an article that I do not know, but as long as the AIAA does not publish something that that shows a misunderstanding of Relativity, we can certainly assume that they still understand the theory. As to the possibility of an object that is created by a miracle at...

    God's word or human reason?

Yes, sites like Wikipedia often don't contain all details, but in the case of Special Relativity, Wikipedia is pretty good. That's because Special Relativity is a simple and well-known theory. It fits on a single sheet of paper. You seem to assume that there is some "hidden content" of Special...

    God's word or human reason?

No. Look at the formula of the Lorenz transformation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorentz_transformation Do you see the 5th formula from above? That's the Lorentz factor. When you instantaneously create an object at 1000 times the speed of light, you see that the Lorentz factor will become...

    God's word or human reason?

But Shenren, Paul365 and I already answered on your post and explained your error. Your assumption of acceleration energy is wrong. The light speed barrier is based on the Lorenz Transformation and not on acceleration energy.
