  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hypothetical: Creationism becomes standard in science classes

If Adam had no belly button, that's proof he was created mature but only a minute old. If he did have a belly button, I suppose that's proof the other way.

Hypothetical: Creationism becomes standard in science classes

Hi USincognito I was trying to find out what 'embedded age' creationism actually is. The only answers I got made it sound exactly like young-earth creationism. AV1611VET tried to help, but still left me completely in the dark. Is it his/her idea?

Hypothetical: Creationism becomes standard in science classes

That just sounds like young earth creationism which I have read a lot about e.g. they say God created starlight in flight so we can see distant stars etc. AV1611VET said embedded age means the world is millions of years "old" but God created it 6000 years "ago". I asked whats the difference...

Hi AV1611VET Well ok then, you too. Still wondering what exactly embedded age creationism actually is ...

Hypothetical: Creationism becomes standard in science classes

Hi AV1611VET Perhaps you missed my earlier post. You must mean something different than I understand by the word "old" when you say the world is millions of years old. If you don't mean old = how long since it first existed ... then old = how long since ........ what?

Hypothetical: Creationism becomes standard in science classes

Apologies. I thought you said "ago" both times. I still don't understand. When people talk about how old something is, they mean how long since it started to exist e.g. when it was created, born, whatever. So, to most people, if you say "it was created 6000 years ago" that's exactly the same as...

Hypothetical: Creationism becomes standard in science classes

@AV1611VET - Thanks, but that's deeply confusing. "Embedded Age says the universe was created millions ... if not billions ... of years old; but only created 6000 years ago." So was it created millions/billions of years ago, or 6000 years ago? It can't be both.

@AV1611VET - Thanks What is the difference between YEC and embedded age? (BTW 'Different state' doesnt make much sense to me)

My Creationism vs Intelligent Design Challenge

Creationism did give rise to intelligent design in that most early supporters were believers in biblical creation and they have many concepts in common. They're not the same thing, though.

Creation, science, and the Nicene creed

So dad, what about Christians who believe God created primitive life millions of years ago, which then evolved into the life forms we see today. Are they believers in godless evolution?

    My Raisin Challenge

Hi KWCrazy "Entail" means "necessarily requires". As Loudmouth pointed out, it is not necessarily required that a miraculously created raisin have the exact same ratio of nuclides of carbon as the earth's atmosphere. It could have any ratio of carbon nuclides and still look to the naked eye...

    My Raisin Challenge

Hi Interesting. At first glance my answer is 'no deception' because He did what he said He did. But Loudmouth's response has some force. The miraculous, fiat creation of a raisin does not entail that it will have the subtle but measurable signs of something that actually grew and actually...

Creation, science, and the Nicene creed

Hi dad I thought evolution was responsible for the diversification of life after Noah's flood. So evolution per se can't be a godless lie, can it?
