  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    convert, sponser question

This is the kind of hair-splitting that turns me off from EO. Sheesh. Honestly, shouldn't that be between her and the Priest? Sorry if I'm so honest, but this is just ridiculous. This kind of catty gossip just has no place in any religion, IMHO.

    Questions for you!

I'm far from being anywhere near asking for anything for myself, but.... I can certainly pray that God intervene and ease the pain of my aged Uncle, who is suffering from gout and other maladies in his old age. I can pray for the intervention and prayers of the Saints on his behalf... even...

Probably not supposed to post this here, but

Even *my* lowly printer took exception to your comment, and asked, "What's your point?"

    Questions for you!

Here's a slap: Ask not what the Saints can do for YOU, but rather, ask for their intercession on behalf of OTHERS. If we are blind, we should pray that others' sight be restored. John of Cassain (c. 360-435) CCEL NPNF-211, Ante-Nicene Fathers, series II, volume XI (tran. Philip Schaf) D

    Questions for you!

In his first letter to Timothy (1 Tim 2:5-6) Paul wrote, "There is One God, and there is One Mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ, who gave himself as ransom for all." I think this is an important point here: Jesus Christ is THE mediator, The Intercessor, for us--He Who Brings us...

    Questions for you!

...and I *think* it has been answered, long ago, by the Church Fathers... let me do some research and I'll have some texts for you. D

    We need new mods!

I'd bite, I'm familiar with moderating and have experience in other lands (Internet Chess Club, former tournament director), but I don't meet the requirements for moderator status here. Maybe next year :-)

"For the Life of the World"

If you find yourself short of cash, almost all of these books are usually available for free "rental" from your local community librarian via inter-library loan.... it may take a few weeks for it to arrive so that you can borrow it, and you have to return it within a few weeks (depending on...

    Have a very Blessed Theophany!

Indeed, let us "invoke God, the Father of the Word, and Him, Jesus Christ Himself our Saviour and Lord, the Heavenly Word of God, as our aid and fellow-laborer in the narration of the truth." Eusebius Pamphilius, Church History, Book I, 73, trans. Philip Schlaf CCEL NPNF2-01

St. Euphrosynos Taverna and Ouzeri 41

Sounds like an intro to an old Vaudeville joke .... Sally: "What's a thread slaying?" Buddy: "That's when the loose thread on your sweater gets pulled." /rim shot :)
