  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do Baptists Believe They Are The Only True Religion?

How do you know the Lutherans have the authentic interpretation of scripture? Or Baptists or Catholics for that matter? Are you the authentic interpreter of scripture?

Doubts that Jesus was the Messiah

I scan posts for material I can accept. If I don't pick up anything, I move on. Its easy to find material that I can't accept - and there is a lot of it. Screaming JESUS IS LORD doesn't go very far. A Muslim or Hindu can scream their beliefs - this is not proof of validity. Circular...

Doubts that Jesus was the Messiah

No its a matter of writing skill. I appreciate your efforts, but you need to learn to come to a point quickly. Don't put more than one complex argument in the same post. If you have several arguments make several posts - this will help the reader absorb the material. I sometimes write for...

Doubts that Jesus was the Messiah

You realize of course no one is going to read all this stuff - Keep it to 5 lines otherwise people will just skim it or not read it

Doubts that Jesus was the Messiah

So how does the Old Testament say the law will last forever and the NT says it passes away? Jesus even says he did not come to get rid of one iota of the law. Its these kinds of contradictions that bother me - you can't have numerous verses in the OT about how God's law will never end and...

Doubts that Jesus was the Messiah

I wouldn't base my religious beliefs on some obscure Talmud passage. There are many things that false messiahs did which Jesus also did. I am trying to find supernatural indicators which point to Jesus as the messiah. I really need to see the arguments against Jesus' refuted...

Doubts that Jesus was the Messiah

You really cant read Isaiah 7 in context and draw the conclusion that 7:14 is about Jesus. The bishops do not think this applies to Jesus. Matthew does quote Isaiah, so as you can see, Matthew misquotes Isaiah. The USCCB notes that this is only the gospel writers perspective. Thius is what...

Doubts that Jesus was the Messiah

Nope. The US Council of Catholic Bishops says its not about Jesus. I cant insert the link though, but google USCCB and the verse and their site comes up and explains it

Doubts that Jesus was the Messiah

So what about it indicates a messiah? Looking at it from the perspective of someone living 10 yrs before christ, its a story of a suffering servant - could be anyone So its safe to assume the Jews living BC would not have thought this was about a messiah Besides they were not looking for...

I'm glad you agree with me - this is not messianic at all.

    Sexaholics Anonymous

We have a lot of female members too - but I agree it would not be a good idea in this forum to mix male & female. Face to face and phone meetings seem to be ok for male & female mix, but this place could much more easily lead to people acting out online together.

Doubts that Jesus was the Messiah

Guys & Gals: Lets say you lived 10 years before Jesus was born and you read Isiah 53 - the suffering servant. Is there anything about that passage that indicates a messiah? I would like to keep the discussion to this sphere - looking at the OT scriptures as if you were reading them 10...

    Sexaholics Anonymous

Hi All: I thought I would do something today to offer assistance to those who feel they are addicted to sex, pornography or lust. I am aware there is a whole forum on this, but I cannot get into it for some reason. Anyway, we have a saying in Sexaholics Anonymous - "you could throw a rock...

Doubts that Jesus was the Messiah

My point is that this kind of stuff raises alarms in my head. "Jews for Judaism" try to build a case that the prophecies do not point to Jesus, and they can make a good case in some of their material. They make the case that the suffering servant could very well point to Israel. They also...

    Conversion Stories

Amen Amen I say to you the converts to our faith make better Catholics than the ones that were born into it. They also sing a heck of a lot better. I just reloacted from mississippi where many in the congregation were converts from protestantism. I had never experienced better singing in a...
