  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Orthodox vs. Protestant belief differences?

I know for a fact that the Vatican has a large computer in the basement which has a database with information on all Protestants who have accepted Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior

    Orthodox vs. Protestant belief differences?

Why would we Romans care what some bizarre Patriarch thinks??? Soon we will pull you in and put you to work doing something constructive for a change

    Orthodox vs. Protestant belief differences?

Its pretty simple I think. Protestants do not believe in the church. They do not believe God prevented it from error in its teaching. I think I am correct in making this blanket statement - please correct me if I am wrong. To them the Church is a man-made organization with man-made beliefs...

    Economic Collapse?

sounds like you don't know of anyone like I've described above - that is legitimate, isn't benefitting financially and is also preaching there will be an economic calamity. The only person that I really have found is Richard Wolff, but he hates capitalism so passionately that he actually...

    Porn [moved]

I used to be just like you. I've been there and done it. I remember for years trying to stay clean only to return to it. I spent years and years trying to use faith, prayer and everything else under the sun to keep out of it. Nothing worked for very long. Fasting provided the best help...

    Economic Collapse?

Hi Does anyone know of a credentialed economist - someone with some sort of degree in economics or finance - who is (1) saying there will be an economic collapse and (2) not benefitting financially from preaching about a coming collapse? There are several people out there preaching about a...

Please don't plan on "bugging out to the country"...

I agree. Its nonsense to think you will live completely independent of other people. I bought 5 acres last year in a small town in Ohio. I think I made a mistake doing this though. I don't think there will be an economic collapse anytime soon. Sure there are people who have some...

    Lords supper is symbolic

I apologize. I really need to cease trying to debate issues. I guess my point of view comes from a belief that Christ guided the church into truth and a study of church history and its beliefs shows the church has never changed its beliefs about the Eucharist and many other things. My point...

    Lords supper is symbolic

When you get talking to them, you will start to notice that they do not believe in the Church. In their world experience, it comes as no surprise though. All they have experienced is their own churches. In their world, there is no such thing as heresy since every man believes as he or she is...

    Lords supper is symbolic

Don't feel bad. Many other disciples couldn't accept this either (Jn 6:60) What will you think if you saw the Son of man ascend up where he was before? I think Christ was saying to the disciples that couldn't accept what he had to say about eating his flesh and drinking his blood that if they...

    Lords supper is symbolic

But this is the problem. Christ said that if you didn't eat his flesh and drink his blood, you had no life in you.. It is just not the case that the Bible means whatever you want it to mean. Think about it. If I conclude from reading the Bible and interpreting it for myself that baptism...

    Lords supper is symbolic

The disciples in John 6:60 certainly thought he really meant his flesh and blood. They couldn't accept it. This is why they turned away and no longer followed him.

    Lords supper is symbolic

my flesh is true food.../. my blood is true drink..... this does not sound like symbols or am I wrong? true food kind of sounds like he really means it is his food. when he says his blood is true drink what are you interpreting this to mean? The only people in the early church that...

    Lords supper is symbolic

so when he says my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink - is this the language of symbolism? true food kind of sounds like he means it is really food doesn't it? If he meant symbolic food why would he say true food?
