  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Baptist Pastor Considering Switch to Methodism

I've thought about switching to the UMC from the SBC because of the divorce issue but couldn't get past the infant baptism. It does seem to almost be a running joke that if you are a Baptist minister switching to the UMC its because you've been divorced. Has the OP found that to be the case in...

    Denominations that allow divorced pastors.

actually I havent. I moved to Florida and joined an SBC church but am not happy with that for reasons apart from divorce (They allow divorced deacons so I doubt they would have a problem with divorced pastors.) Have been considering the UMC since the ones in the south seem more conservative than...

    Luther Rice University

I am seriously considering attending LRU to get a Bachelors degree. I have an associates from an unaccredited bible college and they were the only accredited school that said they would accept at least some of the credits. What type of reputation does LRU have? I know Charles Stanley has a...

What type of church would be closest to this?

AofG would except for the divorce part. They do allow divorced pastors (I myself feel called to the ministry but can't get my ex wife to reconcile.) but only if they are not remarried. Not exactly sure what Foursquare's position is, though I gather they do allow it since their founder was...

    Denominations that allow divorced pastors.

Thanks for your kind words Oscar. Still looking for an baptistic (ie believe in believer's baptism) evangelical, non Charismatic churches that wouldn't prohibit a divorced man from being a pastor. I know some SBC churches would (Charles Stanley is divorced, and he's probably the most famous...

    Denominations that allow divorced pastors.

I'm looking for a church that would allow a divorced man to be a pastor. I currently go to an Independent Baptist church but in their bylaws I know they don't believe in divorced men should be pastors. I would say theologically I'm pretty close to a Southern Baptist but know most SBC churches...
