  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Christian schools have 'right' to exclude those who undermine religious values,...

You are asking why would gays want to be Catholic? Perhaps because they believe in God and believe that the Catholic Church is the true Church. And they are struggling with their sexuality and trying to overcome it. Or they know they are sinners and try to do better but fail, as we all do. I...

    I Guess I'm Being Difficult

Hi guys. CeeBee again. Gotta come for my every-few-months thread I guess... I am now in my second year of college at a medium-sized public but mostly conservative university in the south. I am a guy who is attracted to other guys, only. Don't like girls. (Yeah, I used to think I did, but deep...

[2009-06-15] Change Is Possible for Gays, Says Psychologist

Back when I used to frequent CF more often, when I was first aware of my homosexual orientation, I was told that the Church believes that change isn't possible and that homosexuals should remain celibate in life. This was the overwhelming advice/information given in a multi-page thread. It...

    Advice?

So I'm 18 now. Still unbaptized in any church, attend Baptist church with my family occasionally. My heart, well... deep down I still feel Catholic, though. I just don't know what to do. I disagree with the Church on several large issues... birth control, homosexuality, masturbation. I know...

Gay Marriage - Prop 8 Protests

Yes, what happened to this woman was horrible, but is this? Doesn't matter? Some of these are old. One's very young, also, 3 years old. Dad thought he was gay, I believe. But they are damned hopeless pathetic worthless sinners. The woman was perfect, amirite? But I thought only Christ was...

I'm Not Sure What To Say

The :P was referring to the fact that I had put alot of "idk"s in that paragraph, referring to the fact that I'm kinda unsure of how to respond, as I'm conflicted, so to speak (on Rhamiel's argument on divorce). Well nearly all divorces would not be considered ok with the Church.

I'm Not Sure What To Say

I love how try though I may to specify that I was not indeed chiding ("not sarcastic/argumentative", why else would I say that?) you got that impression. Anyways, I think you missed my point, mon ami. I understand how the Church views marriage/divorce, but the thing with banning gay marriage...

I've been invited to a wedding

I guess you could guess how I'd respond if you've followed me lately, but I don't understand how you going would give your stamp of approval? You can even explain to her politely and nicely how you disapprove with her lifestyle, etc., and that your attendance will not be in support, but that you...

    Bravo! Reverend Newman

What about those who voted for Barack Obama but are pro-life? Such as myself? I don't get it. The Democrats are as well all know much more for helping the poor, did not Our Lord speak on helping the poor many, many times? Also the Republicans spewed much hate this season, and always do. Not...

I'm Not Sure What To Say

Well it makes a difference because many Christians, particularly Protestants, believe that it is due to nurture and that nurturing the opposite way, so to speak, can "fix" us, even adults, which hah I forget I am now. Ok, guess I'll work backwards with my responses: To everyone praying for...
