  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does the Bible teach solid dome flat earth cosmology?

I have appropriate verses for all three heavens right here before my eyes but you would reject them. I will tell you that the first heaven, besides being self-defined in Gen. 1:8, is defined in Strong's. I think the proof that the waters above the firmament were just there, above the Earth...

Does the Bible teach solid dome flat earth cosmology?

Calminian, I apologize for the last question I posed. You just don't seem very tolerant of other people's understanding of the Bible. Which I sympathize with but everyone here is attempting to learn and we're at different places on the learning curve. So, my apologies.

Does the Bible teach solid dome flat earth cosmology?

If you agree that there are three heavens, you must know what they are. Are you the forum bully? Just asking, is all.

Does the Bible teach solid dome flat earth cosmology?

I thought it was obvious that I quoted my source: II Cor. 12:2 wherein Paul said he was "...caught up to the third heaven"...paradise. The Apostle Paul is my source and he says there are three heavens. I've read more of my Bible than just the genuine leather part.

Does the Bible teach solid dome flat earth cosmology?

First Heaven: The Earth's atmosphere. Second Heaven: The mosaic background of the celestial sphere consisting of the sun, moon, stars, planets, etc. That is, outer space. Third Heaven: The place where God lives. I don't know if it's extra-dimensional or not. Neither did Paul in Second...

Does the Bible teach solid dome flat earth cosmology?

Gen 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven... It's the same one that's in Gen 1:1, ...God created the heaven and the earth. The first mention of Heaven is the first Heaven.

Does the Bible teach solid dome flat earth cosmology?

And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament... I don't know how it could be stated more plainly. The firmament is Earth's atmosphere and there is water above it and below it. Interstellar space might be...

Does the Bible teach solid dome flat earth cosmology?

Well, for this particular Heaven, the Bible said the waters were above and below the firmament. It doesn't say there's more firmament above the waters. There are other Heavens, the second and third but the first Heaven is the firmament and it's between the waters above and below.

Does the Bible teach solid dome flat earth cosmology?

I don't see why the waters above the firmament couldn't have been placed about five miles above the surface of Earth, in the contrail zone, where the temperature is about forty or fifty degrees below zero. I think a canopy of clear ice many feet thick and high above the Earth would have been a...

The Power of God Unto Salvation

I don't see how the Preserverance Of The Saints can apply if you believe in Free Will because, if you have Free Will, you can change your mind about your salvation and renounce it. Unless, once you are saved, God won't let you change your status, which flushes your Free Will right down the toilet.

The Full Spectrum of Christian Belief on Origins - where are you?

I choose number 4, the only one that's referred to as a "theory". I think it should be called the "Gap Fact" because it's the one with the most Biblical proof.

    God Planned the Fall

Agreed. And I would add that Adam may have been a willing participant in God's plan. I Timothy 2:14 says that Adam was not deceived by the serpent. It doesn't make him any less guilty but he knew exactly what he was doing and agreed to God's plan.

    Surrender? How?

Perhaps it would be best for you to go to the Author of Our Faith and ask Him, as did this man in Mark 9:24; "...Lord I believe; help thou mine unbelief." I think that is the very essence of surrender.

    "On Controversy" by John Newton

Welcome from another Newbie and don't let that be your last post. Some of these threads are a little intimidating, like a speeding merry-go-round: reach out and grab it and it'll yank your arm off! I'm trying to learn to run alongside for a while and get up to speed and then let it yank my arm...
