  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Healing ministry among liberal Christians

This particular Church was in Columbus Ohio area. I no longer live there but they were a rather large church and had a pretty active healing ministry. Perhaps my wife can remember the name of the Church I'll ask her when she returns home. If it helps I also know a man who claims he was healed...

Is the bible still the base of our faith?

The Bible is still an important part of my faith. Perhaps it is even more important than it has been in the past. God reveals Himself in a number of ways and one of those ways is through Scripture. Not really meaning to sound like a fundamentalist but it is important to rightly divide (to...

    Is the New Testament inspired?

And these "shoulds" where do you get them from? ("should be selfless love") etc.

    Death Penalty

Ok, I listened to the whole thing. Not a word about the innocent executioner being arrested, tried or imprisoned. I also noticed he had a lot to say about executing murderers but not a word about how we prevent putting innocents to death.

    The Drowning Child

Enjoyed the thought experiment. Thank you for posting. For the record I end up with a 100% obligation to help a charity like Oxfam. When it comes to charities. While it is always possible that some charity is a scam after I do due diligence and research a charity I would rather give and...

    Is the New Testament inspired?

I've always wondered two things. For those who believe that part of the NT is inspired but not all of it how do you determine what is or isn't? For those who do not believe the Scriptures are inspired, what is your faith based upon?

    Death Penalty

I oppose capital punishment for many reasons. The primary one is that being human beings we are bound to put innocent people to death. I am convinced we have already done so and convinced that it will continue until the death penalty is abolished. Society has the right to defend itself from...

    Death Penalty

That is what I thought at first as well, yet if you read their further comments it seems that my understanding is what they were claiming. Perhaps they will come back and clarify.

    Death Penalty

Let me get this straight. You believe the Government should execute murderers. But if the person who was executed is eventually proven to be innocent you think the people who carried out the execution should be tried and imprisoned? Really is that what you believe? How is the executioner...

    Isn't death just as tragic.....

I recently had a discussion with a very polite young man who is very politically conservative. We were discussing the current and recent military actions of the U.S. I asked him what the difference is between innocent civilians being killed as collateral damage and the victims of the World...

    Healing ministry among liberal Christians

I know more than a few liberals involved in healing ministry. Most all of them lay hands on the sick and anoint them with oil and pray for them. I have witnessed what would be considered a miraculous healing. The team that prayed for and anointed this woman was composed of some pretty liberal...
