  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    He begrudgingly accepts fate.....

I have to wonder if a ghost would feel anything if he pinched himself. If so, wouldn't that be just believing he's real since his ghostly form felt a ghostly pinch? Or does that mean he believes he's a real ghost... Hmm? Oh! Hi BeefSupreme!

You want me to name him/her what?

We got so tired of people asking us what we were going to name the child, we began telling people, "If it's a boy, 'Gunther Xerxes', and if it's a girl ,'Olga Hildegard'." Some people still didn't get the hint. I was getting suggestions from people up to the day The Kit was born...

    Are You Married To...

The ancient Hebrews also had to pay a lot for a bride before they could get married. The groom would then prepare a place to be able to care for his new family. When he was finished, he would return for his bride, and she had no idea when he would return. There would be a celebration when he...

    What would you do?

Let me get my asbestos plates into their pockets in my vest, and place my flame-proof helmet on... To clarify, I believe that the American society was once set up for the majority group to set the standard. Minority groups were free to do as they wished, but their influence on the majority is...

    What would you do?

Someone once said, "it's easy to talk about hunting bear when the bear isn't around." Right now, I'd be very heartbroken, and a bit confused. To be honest, I'm very anti-gay rights, so The Cub or The Kit would have to be very angry with me to tell me they're gay. (Fortunately, they are both very...

    Not married....yet.

From nine happy years of marriage, and six not-so-happy ones, too: Read the manual (the Bible) before all else fails! Remember your place in the big scheme of things; God leads, you follow. You have no right to demand submission from your wife. That's a gift. Learn to fight fair. This is very...

I need to talk about this...and could use some feedback please.

From the King James Bible (emphasis added): I Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. This doesn't look right. You have a woman who has already caused problems with your marriage. This same woman calls 15 out of 21 days in the past three weeks, and sometimes more than once...

    Marriage Theory

You don't put your faith in a person. You put your faith in God, and trust your spouse. Now, some of us spouses have been untrustworthy, and that is when you have to set boundaries and enforce them. This is where we get into how a man and woman are supposed to relate in a marriage, and that is...

I need to talk about this...and could use some feedback please.

Vicissa, He's either unaware that she's flirting with him and "just being nice", or aware and liking it. The former is more likely, if we apply Harzog's Razor(Attribute not to malice that which is easily explained by stupidity.). Guys, as a general rule, are oblivious to social dynamics. That's...

    Marriage Theory

I think it was Donald Trump that said, "If you're going to dream, dream big." We have a goal to strive for. We won't ever make it while we're on this planet, but that shouldn't give us reason to just flop ourselves down and not try. The model of Christ to the Church, or humanity in general, is...

Young People Rejecting Christianity, Views of Religion

My first point was that we cannot bemoan the degradation of America because the kids are "too cool" to be Christians. Granted, it looks bad at this point, but they'll grow up eventually. (Yes, that includes you, Harpuia.) When they have to be responsible citizens, people suddenly feel an urge to...

what is your child for halloween

The Cub wanted to be a "honey bug", so a honeybee he'll be. The Kit, if her costume comes together, will be a "love bug". I was wanting to get some safari fatigues and a large net to match them, but that may not happen. I've considered going with one color and adding a VW emblem around my neck...

Young People Rejecting Christianity, Views of Religion

I had some time to think about this article, and I had a few realizations: Barna is not the most unbiased of research groups. The results are based on a poll done of people "under age 30". You know, there are more people 30 and older in America, considering the average lifespan of an American...

Young People Rejecting Christianity, Views of Religion

I challenge you to find the phrase "separation of church and state" in either the Declaration of Independence, US Constitution, or the Articles of Confederacy. You won't. The phrase was in a letter from Thomas Jefferson written to a group of Baptists. For some odd reason, people have latched...

Young People Rejecting Christianity, Views of Religion

This article bothered me as it's basis seems a bit skewed. This article comes from a study from Barna of people between under the age of 30. Last time I checked, "people under the age of 30" is not the majority of Americans. Am I, at age 33, too old to make a difference in American society? I...
