  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Who gets prevenient grace & when?

Grace and Peace, I'm not Methodist but here's what I found: Thomas Oden of Drew University defines prevenient grace as, "...the grace that begins to enable one to choose further to cooperate with saving grace. By offering the will the restored capacity to respond to grace, the person then...

    Wesley on Salvation

Grace and Peace, I have a few Wesleyan books discussing the Holy Spirit and John Wesley's particular views on different topics in the Bible but the history of Methodism in the States suggests that it no longer follows John Wesley's particular teachings and has incorporated Reformed Theological...

    Sola Scriptura

Grace and Peace be with you, By the guidance of the indwelling Spirit would be my guess. No institution is bound to the guidance of the indwelling Spirit, which I would argue, means that no institution can be an infallible guide of the Word of God. We, as individuals, need to discern the truth...

Is touching yourself a sin? (2)

Grace and Peace be with you all, I would say that such acts are not fruitful and led to self fulfilling pleasure seeking in one's life and so is distracting to one's relationship with God Almighty. I understand that in our Western Culture we are often times overwhelmed with sexually...

    ~Favorite Bible Version~

Grace and Peace be with you all, I have a host of different translations (NASB, NIV, NKJV, KJV, NRSV, RSV, etc) but I have to say I read the NIV and KJV more than the rest. The NIV helps when the KJV becomes difficult to understand. For me it happens... God Bless! :prayer:
