  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ramblings from a Lutheran in an evangelical world

    Youth Leadership Books

If you like to read, I would recommend "A Chance to Die: The Life and Legacy of Amy Carmichael". If you are called to serve, that book will really speak to you and give you much inspiration. I bought it for a student of mine that is called to the ministry and we have been reading and...

    Confessional Lutherans in ELCA

I can tell you for certain that my home church left the ELCA about five-six years ago. We had two votes about it and yes a bishop did come in and try and discourage the process. We voted to leave and kept both our property and our beautiful church. I have seen the same process take place...

    Confessional Lutherans in ELCA

LCMC churches vote to leave the ELCA while WordAlone churches stay in and try and reform the church organization. Some pastors are both LCMC and ELCA. Bollman

    Confessional Lutherans in ELCA

One of the founding principals was local control without bishops-- Word Alone-- Christ Centered-- congregational decision making. LCMC is divided into smaller, loosely connected groups called districts that share information and meet regularly. Most are regional but some are theological. At...

    Confessional Lutherans in ELCA

I can speak to that. We are out there. I am a youth leader/lay minister at an LCMC church. It is a exciting time to work with such a grassroots organization. There are disadvantages of being linked to such a small group. Job options are often limited and there are few options for us...

    Postmodernism: the next generation

http://www.cpinternet.com/~robbfc/pwarchive/html/PEEW_paper.htm Read this online essay about PEEW. Do not be afraid. God is changing his church to prepare for what is to come. We could debate what that means, but trust that this shift toward mysticism is part of GOD's will. I would recommend...

Oh yeah... I often read the Message! That makes 'em think I am some sort of New Age person. Bollman

Ramblings from a Lutheran in an evangelical world

Hi folks, I am still running into this sort of feeling. I had a Neo-Baptist type tell me the other day that all of my youth group were unsaved. I opened my bible and tried showing her what "saved" meant and that we most assuredly are and will be saved by God's undying love (GRACE). She still...

Question for Youth Pastors (but interesting discussion too)....

I agree with what others have said, be yourself. Remember that when David went to fight Goliath, he rejected King Saul's sword and armor because he knew that wasn't him. That wasn't how God had prepared him to fight. Instead he used the tools that came natural to him; that God had built into...

    Youth Mission Trips/Organizations

Our group has gone on seven Youthworks! trips of which I have been a leader three times. I love Youthworks and do not have a bad story to tell in all of our dealings with them. We have done mostly urban centers. Being from a rural area, it really is an eye-opener to work in a new environment...

Ramblings from a Lutheran in an evangelical world

I had a break through at class last week. We had to do a fifteen minute long presentation on a Christian spiritual leader from the past 2000 years. I did mine on Homer Larsen, the Lutheran radio minister. It was well received. Right after me, a lady did a speach on a Lutheran who worked in...

    Homer?

I had the great honor of visiting with Homer on the telephone for an hour today. Wow! What a beacon for the Light! If you aren't aware of who he is, check him out his radio program online. http://www.christiancrusaders.org/ Bollman

    Homer?

Is anyone here familiar with the work of Rev. Dr. Homer Larsen? I am doing a paper over him in my Spiritual Formation class. He is a retired ELCA pastor with a radio program. I have read his book and about two dozen sermon notes of his. I am now hunting down original resources, people to...
