  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How to navigate my Christian life as a CPTSD survivor

Just to add @BETH PIERSON I see you are Reformed. I would have also lost my faith if I had remained Reformed and had gone through my life as it is. There is your problem sis. We are chosen to be conformed, not to be saved.

How to navigate my Christian life as a CPTSD survivor

Dear sister Beth, I am so very very sorry that you left the day you posted this and understand why. My heart went out to you as I know exactly what you said is true. There is no love in the church, enough to heal the severely traumatized yet it is just what they need, not platitudes. I am sick...

A necessary approach to Orthodox Christian faith.

Thankyou. I have decided to watch from the beginning - 80 videos I think. Very helpful for the stage I am at.

    The Prodigal Returns.

I attended Divine Liturgy at my nearest city yesterday but it did not go well due to the car parking situation. I had to book into a hotel for the night to make it all possible. However, I was reminded of how much I love about Orthodoxy.

    The Prodigal Returns.

The Lord has most graciously answered my question though something in Theology as a Spiritual State in the life and teaching of St Sophrony The Athonite by Archimandrite Peter of Monastery of St John the Baptist, in a few short sentences, which means I can now go ahead. And no, I am not well...

    The Prodigal Returns.

I am very interested in church history so thanks for that information. It is good that we have the Holy Spirit to guide us into the truth isn't it. I do intend to get hold of the Bible versions the Orthodox use, but the popular one is said not to be that good? I do mean to get hold of the...

    The Prodigal Returns.

Which shows to me that it is the spirit and soul that is feeding on the spiritual body and blood, as they do not benefit at all from partaking of the elements. We are told to worship in Spirit and in truth and no longer have symbols, shadows, or things that are not reality as it was under the...

    The Prodigal Returns.

It seems to me that it is not about the elements having the ability to pass on grace, but it is the deeper meaning of abiding all of the time as in feed on Him with faith which is not happening until Theosis. I see everything in scripture being from the physical to the spiritual as in the types...

    The Prodigal Returns.

@Imchristy Thank you so much for these links - just what I was hoping to find. Can I just ask you, what the following verses mean, as John was directing his teaching in chapter 6 away from earthly food and drink to spiritual food and drink (not symbolic). As I said, I have no Protestantism left...

    The Prodigal Returns.

Hi I had been posting previously, and intending to become Orthodox but the obstacles seemed too much. Visits to the local (15 miles away) OC did not go well as the Archpriest was not welcoming after speaking to me during a visit. He said that he always had a good sense if the enquirer was going...

The best speakers or authors for EO? Books or Podcasts?

@ArmyMatt I have just come across this again after the fallout of the move and would not mind picking up where it was left off. During the discussion, I notice that although I was vey clear about what I understood as Theosis, which party transported itself to the west under the banner of entire...
