  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Catholic Church is creationist?

How is evolution wrong? This is so confusing to me because everyone seems to pick on the idea that evolution is a theory without understanding what the word theory means. Isn't it evidence enough that a St. Bernard, a Doberman, and a Chihuahua are all dogs? This is the last sentence of...

    Stem Cell Therapy Works

Whether it works or not (and I'm glad it did in this article, way to go Koreans!), I think there's more at stake than whether or not stem cell research works (which it does). Really the question is how much information can we dig out of this field of research before some anti-progress Christian...

    consider this........

Abortion is abhorred, but a guy coming back to life after dying about 2000 years ago? Well that's just everyday stuff, pff no biggie... Non-Christians will, on a whole, agree; if someone is considering abortion, something's going on that should be discussed with the woman - but the right to...

If chastity is good, is asexuality better?

Why is sex so evil in the first place? This was never clear to me...

    Creationism...effective and accurate...

Yeah, stem cell research stings to think of the loss, but it's on its way back. Just wondering, but if you don't believe in the christian God, and you don't have faith in man, do you at least have faith in yourself? I would hope you at least believed you were capable...unless you wanted to...

Where Is Paradise? Where Is Hellfire?

"You know, Christianity isn't about what we prefer." Couldn't be spoken better Serapha... shame though. Consider that heaven and hell, must actually be a state of mind, because your state of mind, which leads you to believe they exist, gives a need for a specific location and more importantly...

Where Is Paradise? Where Is Hellfire?

Even with dimensions in the text, heaven doesn't necessarily have a specific location does it? I mean...why would it? Or even...why should it? Yahya, I'm gonna slam you with some quick taoism, here's my take: if you want to know where hell is, go outside and look with your eyes. If you want to...

    Creationism...effective and accurate...

This average joe you're talking to mepalmer3 (me, joe) never learned any philosophy in school. philosophy isn't exactly something that can be taught, there are no pliable syllogisms to hammer it home, unlike the fact of evolution. It's not about denting christianity...it's about making sure that...

    a bible question

Hmm, I'm really not trying to talk down to anyone...and as far as my reading comprehension is concerned...ha, well I have no problem with that (I've always been a pretty voracious reader, I have a pet library actually =) I was looking more along the lines of which bible is more 'accurate' to a...

    a bible question

icxn! guess what! You replaced the word tao with Christ, I didn't replace Christ with Tao! But you know...thanks for belittling my philosophy and everything...sigh. Taoism is the mindset that what is, is, and what isn't, isn't... in the end it's all the same, but the less you ask of it, the...

    Creationism...effective and accurate...

I know, luckily (and unlike a lot of christians on these forums), I actually have faith in man.

    Creationism...effective and accurate...

So long as scientists make headway in their fields, accepting the fact of evolution, and creationists keep their teachings out of our public schools (which by 'separation of church and state' must be, forever) and they don't somehow take over our education system nationwide by some apocaplyptic...

Where Is Paradise? Where Is Hellfire?

supposedly the new age way to think about this is that they're not real places, but states of mind.... but what do I know...I don't believe in them anyway =P Ciao, Joe

    a bible question

I'm taoist...trying to make my way in the general apologetics forums (and not really having any luck either...) I've been reading the King James version of the bible to back my points up, but I've been told time and time again that I'm referring to the "4th grade version of christianity" or...
