  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

A Needs-Centered Approach to Life: A new perspective on human nature

Here is an article I wrote on a needs-centered approach to life. When we focus on our needs (not to be confused with wants) and the needs of others we stay compassionate towards ourselves and others. We are able to give grace to ourselves and others as well. Harmony of the Heart: A...

How long to wait after divorce

Grafted In, Thanks for sharing more about your situation. I respect your decision to stay in your marriage. I also made this decision to stay for 8 more years. My wife's anger problems continued, though, and they were starting to affect me and my kids in ways that were very unhealthy. Jesus...

How long to wait after divorce

Kenyanmom, Deuteronomy 24:1-4 states the following (NAV): "When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she find no favour in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, and give [it] in her hand, and sends her out from...

    Lean on Jesus...

God touches us through people. The church is supposed to be his hand and feet. Seeking healthy people who can give you a hug or talk to you on the phone when you need support is totally healthy and a very godly thing to be doing. I think that this would count as leaning on Jesus (as well as...

How long to wait after divorce

Grafted In, I take into account what individuals who are filled with the Spirit have to say on this topic as well as if it aligns with inner peace and scripture. Yet, I am leery of when someone speaks for God as His mouthpiece. If only it was that easy. Each situation is different and...

How long to wait after divorce

Kenyamom, I empathize with your situation. That must be hard. You have had sufficient time to heal, process and move on and yet legally you are still bound. Kudos to you for allowing God to heal you and change you! I also agree with you that it is a personal decision that one must make...

How long to wait after divorce

Blackribbon, My children are 7 and 10. I read the book Dinosaurs Divorce which covers a lot of the topics that come up for kids after a divorce. They asked me when I thought I would start dating. I told them maybe in one or two years but that I was not sure. They are supportive about this...

How long to wait after divorce

The question was a general question. I know a lot of people who are going through a divorce and I also have just gone through a divorce. I was in an unhealthy and abusive relationship and have met with a Christian therapist for over 20 sessions over the last 9 months and am about to complete a...

We are ALL products of wrong programming!

I agree with you memoriesbymichelle. We are socialized or conditioned by our society, peers, media, family, etc. in various ways that go counter to what God would want us to believe. Years of programming is hard to deal with. Six thousand years ago people were afraid of the Gods and they...

    On loneliness

Loneliness is an emotion that is experienced when we interpret ourselves as alone. Our emotions are caused by our thoughts. I don't like to categorize emotions as positive and negative and instead like to thinking of them as pleasant and unpleasant. The reason is that when I have an unpleasant...

    Hell..

To allow the rest of humanity to go to hell and do nothing about it would put me in a state of hell. Having that on my conscious would get in the way of being able to enjoy heaven. Plus, that is what Jesus would do or actually what he did. He died on the cross so humanity could go to heaven. He...

Do we have the same "God"?

Everyone has a different perception of God. Even within the Christian faith we have people who believe that God is a God who punishes and is out to get us when we do something wrong and then there are those within the faith that believe God is restorative, forgiving and gracious and not...
