  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Understanding the Scriptures

Eve was fully convinced in Gen 3 that God said not to eat of the tree of knowledge lest you die - then shortly thereafter got "convinced" that maybe she would not die at all and in fact maybe there was so much to be gained from rebellion against what she thought God was saying -- that it would...

    Understanding the Scriptures

I would say that anyone who deliberately disobeys any commandment will not be saved. There are some very liberal protestants who believe that the law is done away with and they are free to do whatever they want and still be covered by grace. Those people will be disappointed at Christ's...

    Understanding the Scriptures

If I studied a subject and concluded differently than what the church taught I was not free to express my conclusion. Are there any churches where you are free to disagree? I've heard a lot of weird ideas in my days from both ministers and members, but I also don't agree 100% with my church...

    SDA's and the Reformation

I view Sabbath keeping as being around for millenniums, so I don't view myself as being a product of the reformation. I enjoy the religious liberties that followed, but there were Sabbath keeping Christians before Luther and there will always be Sabbath keeping Christians in the future until...

    Holidays and Holydays

Where do Christmas trees come in? It's one thing to participate in the celebration of Christ's birth on December 25, but why get involved in Christmas trees and other traditions that really aren't Christian?

    Holidays and Holydays

How many SDA churches have Christmas trees set up this time of year? I had the viewpoint that Adventists did not take a position on Christmas, but someone quoted Ellen White as saying: “God would be well pleased if on Christmas each church would have a Christmas tree on which shall be hung...

The King James Version or NCV, RSV or NIV, does it make a difference?

It's not just a lack of understanding of a word of an individual, the translators share the blame. Act 12:4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. What...

    SDA's and the Reformation

I think you touched on one Biblical example of what to expect in the future, and that is the time of Noah. The other that comes to mind is Sodom and Gomorrah. Another example is the destruction of the tribe of Benjamin that also involved homosexual rape mobs, like Sodom and Gomorrah. I don't...

    SOP on Political Issues

Reddogs, I don't understand what you mean here: "So we need to vote our conscious and leave it at that, or we may find our words supporting groups of hate and destruction, as prophecy is fullfilled." How is not voting our conscience supporting groups of hate and destruction?

The King James Version or NCV, RSV or NIV, does it make a difference?

If the KJV was good enough for the Apostle Paul, it's good enough for me! In all seriousness, I'm not a fan of the KJV. There are a lot of scriptures that are deceptive. Look at Rom 10:4 in KJV: "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." So there is no...

    SDA's and the Reformation

So now we have (or assume) Joe Biden as our next president. I don't see this as a positive for the morality of this nation. Trump has his problems, but I never thought that abortion would ever be challenged in this nation again. I applaud him for that, even if he has absolutely no control over...

    Understanding the Scriptures

In Old Testament times, people would visit the prophets to hear the word of the LORD. Now we have God's word as the Holy scriptures. Without them, all we would have is man-made philosophies, like the eastern religions. Never underestimate the importance of the Ten Commandments and the...

    SDA's and the Reformation

GaryK, I don't think you are being fair to my comments. We could make a long list of things that stay the same. The sun will come up tomorrow. The grass will still be green tomorrow. The sky should still still be blue. Yes, God is and will be the same, too. We can agree that culture is...

    Coronavirus could become seasonal Flu.

Yes, it is back up, almost to the peak. We will see what happens. Parts of Europe are locking down. Yes, the WHO is opposed to lock downs. When the problem first arose, we were told that we were locking down to keep hospitals from being overrun. That never happened, and the lock downs...

    SDA's and the Reformation

One thing that I have learned over the last decade is that nothing stays the same. The country is not the same country that I grew up in. You would think that the church should stay the same, but whatever church you attend will not be the same church you attended decades ago. This isn't...
