  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It is time for a new Holy Inquisition

I have to agree with you, but how many of them are attending mass regularly for it to make a difference to them personally? If if were done publicly I could see the embarrassment and shame it could cause. But yeah, the church needs to do something to protect these babies. If not the church, then...

offering suffering for souls in purgatory...

Here's one prayer. LET US PRAY - Be blessed O my God Who has willed that suffering and unceasing sorrows with which my life is sowed, become for me a source of abundant merit and a means of satisfying Your Justice for the souls of my dear friends and relatives. Henceforth, far from...

did Martin Luther regret the Reformation

We were all given a conscience. It's something everyone is born with. If we are doing something that is wrong, our conscience speaks to us. I believe that if someone was misled to believe that Satan is good, then their conscience would tell them otherwise. Now whether or not they decide to...

did Martin Luther regret the Reformation

We're all responsible for ourselves. How could luther possibly be responsible for leading millions to damnation?

did Martin Luther regret the Reformation

I agree to a point, but honestly I don't think I would have wanted to be part of the Catholic church at the time. ML didn't revolt because he was a rebel. He saw things happening in the church that were wrong. I better say some Hail Mary's for saying that, but thankfully things are better today...

did Martin Luther regret the Reformation

well because you said you can bet he regrets it now. If he were in heaven, would he have any regrets?

did Martin Luther regret the Reformation

I think if this were true, there wouldn't be so many Lutherans today. At least I'd hope not. Why would anyone with any intelligence follow something their mentor regretted? Not to mention all the other denominations that followed suit.

did Martin Luther regret the Reformation

i think this is just one of those urban legends. This is what I found by doing a google search. It's from a non-biased source, not Catholic nor Lutheran, lol. After 8:00 p.m., he experienced chest pains. When he went to his bed, he prayed, "Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed...

did Martin Luther regret the Reformation

That's kinda judgemental isn't it? Do you really believe only Catholics are in heaven? If so, maybe I've been going to the wrong church. How do you know what transpired in Luther's life after he left the Catholic church? I have read that he would spend hours in prayer a day. That's got to...

    Purgatory revisited

No, I don't think He would. I just wish we had a clear understanding of it. gahhhhh!

    Purgatory revisited

Not trying to make mountains out of mole hills here, but I was talking this over with my husband and well if we know that all the souls in purgatory will eventually go to heaven and we also know that we can help them with our prayers, and we don't know how else they can get to heaven from...

    Purgatory revisited

no, I was thinking we should be praying for them more if we are their only really known for sure hope, know what I mean?

    Purgatory revisited

in other words, the only 100% certain way that we know those souls will get out is having people who are alive pray for them?

    Purgatory revisited

I know that, but how? The scripture says untils every last cent is paid. Isn't that implying that we have to do something oe someone does something on our behalf? Is there a process other than someone praying on their behalf? If yes, then what?

    Purgatory revisited

Hi, I don't normally post here, but I do lurk here on occasion. Sorry to bring this up again, but I was following the other thread that got closed and I have a question. We often pray at Mass for souls in Purgatory. I never really questioned it and someone posted scripture about not getting out...
