  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    LOL! I'm glad you put that "and" in there but I don't think you really believe it. I'm not a Democrat myself, but I don't know any who who are not glad to see Maduro gone. People like that give socialism a bad name. Maybe Rodriquez will be better.

    Although both uses are based on the erroneous notion that particular chemical compounds form by random atoms just banging into each other under random circumstances. So the "junkyard" analogy is equally bogus for either scenario.

    Causal closure of the physical does not rule out divine causality. I don't have to explain what the Bible says, but it's pretty clear that Paul was not talking about scientific investigation of the universe. There is no reason to believe that God intervened directly in the chemical reactions...

    The trouble is, that those two "worldviews" do not neatly divide science and religion. OK, with the proviso that belief that life was formed by God does not require that evidence for it be found in nature. In fact, many theologians believe that God has so arranged things that such evidence...

    Right. The way you convince atheists to believe in God is to evangelize. That's the only way. Trying to prove it with science is fruitless and only sets you apart from the majority of Christians who understand that it can't be done.

    You don't understand the teleology. Pay attention to the passage from St.Thomas that Barbarian quoted, follow it up and read the whole treatise. The "other side" is not trying to do that. As you point out, the science is the same in either case. But science only studies what St. Thomas...
