  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What can I do in my current situation to help those in need?

I've been thinking about this recently, and wanted to hear some feedback. I'm a young American college student finishing up my last few semesters. By American standards, my family is above average in wealth. By the world's standards, my family would be considered very wealthy. Although, my...

    Santa Claus is Satan

Unfortunately, Christmas has significantly changed since its inception. The holiday is a Christian holiday meant to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. That is the reason Christmas exists, and that should be the main reason why we celebrate it. Yet, even through all of the changes Christmas...

    The All-Knowing God

I've always wondered about this. I guess it all depends on your definition of tempted. I've always thought that allowing oneself to be tempted was also a sin. God said that if you imagine committing adultery than you have already done it. To me being tempted is thinking about it doing...

    The Narrow Door

That actually makes sense. Not very fair though. I thought God was a just God? Why punish someone for what their great great great great grandfather did? It almost seems like if you weren't born in Western Society or South America, you're going to go to hell. Except for the people elsewhere...

    The Narrow Door

Luke 13:22-30 is a very disheartening passage for me. Is the door really that narrow? It says make every effort to make it through the door like it requires a lot of good works. This always confuses me because the reason why Christianity is such a beautiful religion is because you are not...

    How wicked is the world?

I've been struggling with this recently. I look around me and wonder just how wicked the world really is. In particular, where I come from, the United States. It's obvious that sexual immorality, drunkenness, and selfishness is a major issue in the USA, but does that make everyone entirely...

    The All-Knowing God

God is an all-knowing and all-powerful God. Look around you, and it's apparent how powerful God really is. God being God, must have an understanding of everything, or if not everything than just about everything there is to know about the universe. I have a few thoughts regarding this. If...

What does the Bible say about achievement?

This is another issue I've been musing over recently. The Bible says that pride is sinful, but does pride go hand in hand with success and achievement? As someone who grew up in the United States, I have a desire to be successful in the abilities that God gave me. For example, I've been told...

Should I feel bad about every sin I commit?

I believe I have a firm understanding of what is wrong and what's not based on what the Bible teaches. Like every human, I sin everyday through my thoughts and my actions. Christ has always been inside of me which is why even during times when I wasn't close to God, I never made any big...

How much does God want us to change?

The tough thing about it is that I enjoy the wrong. I know that it is a temporary empty enjoyment but I still enjoy it. Being close with her and cuddling in a bed gives me a sense of temporary happiness. I'm not the kind of guy that screws over women and I never have done it. Every act of...

    The nature of morality

Morality - Of or concerned with the judgment of the goodness or badness of human action and character. Many Christians say that it is impossible to be truly moral if you are not a Christian. Perfect morality cannot be achieved because only Jesus was perfectly moral. But people can make moral...

Motivation for following the Bible's moral teachings

I want to wait to have sexual intercourse. I've been sexually intimate in other ways, but I will not have sexual intercourse this weekend.

What is the purpose of prayer?

If God knows all, and His will be done, what is the purpose of prayer? I can praise Him, worship Him, and thank Him, but what is the purpose in praying that someone will be healed or will get a job? Doesn't God already have His plan laid out? Can we influence His decision making?

How much does God want us to change?

Well I was always told that when your saved, the next step is repentance, and repentance requires one to change his wrongdoings. I sin everyday because I do things that the Bible considers wrong everyday. I don't murder anyone and I don't deal drugs, but I sin.

    Entertainment in Society

Human beings have the choice to let things affect them or to not let things affect them. With the strength of Christ, human beings can be given the strength needed to sustain a strong willed mind for our entire lives. Christians always argue over whether or not they're allowed to do certain...
