CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

-American who lives in Canada (parents from here - my dad passed away in 2020 so I want to be close to mom because she is alone)
- Ex-U.S. Navy IT guy, worked for MSC (Military Sealift Command), well-traveled (I've been to 33 countries)
- Funny, friendly, respectful, and I always try to be nice to others and not pass judgment (although as sinners this is difficult)
- Lover of the Lord but I don't adhere to a particular denomination. I don't think they really matter because we all interpret things differently. I'm not sure if any denomination is 100% correct about everything (likely not in my opinion). Here in Canada I go to a CMA church which is most like presbyterian I think and it's nice.
- Into sports, video games, cooking, travel, and spending time with my mom and brother.
- I'm not married by choice and I don't have kids because I never felt compelled to have children of my own. This is a bit personal though so I won't give more details on why all that is.
- Libertarian is the closest to what my personal views are but I don't consider myself completely one per se because I either don't really care or disagree with some of the platform's views on some issues. I like capitalism and I believe in personal/religious freedom quite dearly but I do support helping out folks in need moreso than the U.S. party might.
